Re: WHEN IS MCDONALDS GOING TO BRING BACK THE MCRIB AND THE MCSTEAK
CaptainZero, you are my hero, sir.

Not because of your McRib jones, although I always enjoy the first 3 or 6. (Inevitably, some imbecile fails to treat them properly, putting me off them until the comet returns.

No, my gratitude is for your profoound sagacity and courage in remembering what is lost. The McSteak was the BEST SANDWICH E-V-E-R! When they hit (what were only a handful of stores in my area of the country) back in the day (was it '80?), my brother was running a shift. He had the whole crew TERRIFIED, operating straight out of Ray Kroc's manual, except that his times, cleanliness, and quality were all well ABOVE norms, especially when he took a quick turn on the grill. (Which he sometimes did when I showed up, bless his heart.) As wonderful as the meat, special onions, and bun were on their own, his touch worked magic. I can smell and taste them right now--almost.

Man, when was the last time and place that you know they were served? I'd schedule a road trip just to be there!

Off topic (sort of): The best meal I've ever eaten was at the Kentucky Fried Chicken in London, Ontario, probably around '68 or '69. The Colonel had already been gone for several years, but a loyal acolyte had somehow kept the supply chain functioning in the Great White North, not to mention the Faith. The smell of liquifying chicken bones, more than a token bit of spices, REAL potatoes and silky gravy (made with innards) that DIDN'T give me the instant trots FILLED OUR MOTEL ROOM. The local touch of POTATO rolls and (high-fat) Canadian butter put the meal over the top. I've had meals in 5-star STEAKHOUSES and traditional French restaurants that were ALMOST as memorable, although not very often.

Re: WHEN IS MCDONALDS GOING TO BRING BACK THE MCRIB AND THE MCSTEAK
October 2011: McDonald's is bringing the McRib to be sold at all U.S. McDonald's locations through Nov. 14, 2011. Cheers from Boneless Pig Farmers Association of America (McDonald's fake association which protested the sandwich's ouster).
