Re: Hills and Valleys Reprise
Who will come on a journey through time...
Flying on the hooves of horses swiftly over desert sands.
Who sees the innocens of the child king as he is whisked away by theancient seer over rocky crag, where the spoor is light, and hard to spot?
Who sees the determined hatred of the pursuers, their dogged singlemindedness and clinical deployment of riders, fanning out over the sands, taking all known paths, using falcons to carry the chase forwards.

Destiny had spoken, the house of David would stand.

The ancient seer had crafted in the boy, every nuance of survival, but even with all his charms and divinations, there was still a shadow.

Always, the shadow.

Where courtliness and trust had allowed a peaceful existence for all, fear and misgivings had replaced a once hospitable community.

A movement, barely discernable in the distance caught Tanataka's eye, old though he was, his eye was keen, he knew, too of the ancient languages, and he was able to see clearly, that which others, could not.

"So," he thought, it has come...

Through time, like an eagle we fly, we see both worlds, we see the current problems, the problems of an androgenic society, where roles are blurred, families are disintegrating and folkjs are writhing in discontent.

We see Sarah, seven husbands, dead.

What unbridled lust and debauchery does that bespeak?

Same problems then, same problems now, seemingly sealed by Ecclesiastics lament"...Nothing new under the sun..."...as if to seal this rock band, for eternity.

Hu is in da house, leddies and gennlemen

and with him comes...

Ima thinking there was a bit of sleight of hand and especially if one compares the books, "The key of Solomon" in th eBritish Library, which I can deign to read, and Crowleys, "The Lesser Key of Solomon" which I wont.

Sometimes, less is more, in this case, it is beyond, sadly deficient.

So, I put it, that simply there must be a setting to rights.

Re: Hills and Valleys Reprise
We are only at the beginning of act 1

Let us look to Adam...

I feel like a could use a pipe, myself... while I stroke my chin, the way I picture you doing it,- does this aid the thinking process, I wonder? Stroking the chin, that is... the pipe tells me that none of this strikes me quite right, yet.

I am having somewhat a problem with C)... why in the name of the good heaven would 'God' make a 'fitting helpmeet' for the man, who, as it turns out, did not ever help anyone at all, much less, this, her 'husband?' It is written that if a man asks for a fish, he can expect that his Father will not return to him a stone... this would seem to be an extreme example of such a thing to a simpler mind, such as my own must be.

Why would he create the 'fitting helpmeet' out of filth? Who is the trickster now? And, after this Lilith enjoyed what would seem to be quite a career in the 'oldest profession,' the Prince of the Demons decides that since he can't have something beautiful (Sara), he will settle for just any old baby-killing hag, and then marries her? So, the seven mens' lives that were given for 'love' were given in vain, after all? A poor sacrifice, if you ask me.

Well, I suppose I will just have to wait and see how this will explain itself... or, rather, how you will explain it,- I'm having a hard time with it, myself. (mumbles something like 'Love? Lord above...' shakes head...)
 Quoting: The Cross of Lorraine

Let me see...

A furrowed brow, bit of a wry askance grin... more aptly...

the pipe helps, indeedy do
My guess, as to C; is that God wishes everything to evolve, there are few things indeed, which are barred the opportunity of growth.

This too, is where we stand, on the precipice of GMO and the like, these are things which are antis creation.

Brinksmanship and stibbornness will see mayhem...its just nature kicking back....we have an opportunity to say, no, I choose a simpler life, and adopt it.

See we are talking about entities which may have used arcane knowledge to prolong their lives etc, so it i san open playbook...until they took it and put it in that silly bag...rucksackx2...whatever...

just plain stoopid.
Point is, Lilith was probably very attractive and may not have aged like we imagine, I liked how you put, she "enjoyed"...very droll, and we must remember that neither Asmnodeous, nor Lilith, and poor old Solomon, I will not judge, but may we say, they were driven by lust,, not any sense of love, to act as they did.

They had the knowledge, the motivation, and the opportunity.

Ipso facto???...I think..."The thing stands alone"
crap latin^^^ignore himscream

anyway Semper Fidelis...

Hope that clears everything up

rook (♖ ♜ borrowed from Persian رخ rokh, Sanskrit रथ rath, "chariot") is a piece in the strategy board game of chess. The piece has been called the castle, tower, marquess, rector, and comes (Sunnucks 1970). The old-fashioned term "castle" is still used.[citation needed][1][2] Each player starts with two rooks, one in each of the corners nearest his own side.

Re: Hills and Valleys Reprise
So, here is Egypt about 1500 BC

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Hyksos 15th dynasty

Traditionally,[who?] only the six Fifteenth Dynasty rulers are called Hyksos. The Hyksos had Canaanite names, as seen in those which contain the names of Semitic deities such as Anath or Ba'al. They introduced new tools of warfare into Egypt, most notably the composite bow and the horse-drawn chariot.

The known rulers for the Hyksos 15th dynasty are:
Name Dates
Sakir-Har Named as an early Hyksos king on a door jamb found at Avaris.
Regnal order uncertain.
Khyan c. 1620 BC
Apophis c. 1580 BC to 1540 BC
Khamudi c. 1540 BC to 1530 BC?

The Hyksos kingdom was centered in the eastern Nile Delta and Middle Egypt and was limited in size, never extending south into Upper Egypt, which was under the control of Theban-based rulers. Hyksos relations with the south seem to have been mainly of a commercial nature, although Theban princes appear to have recognized the Hyksos rulers and may possibly have provided them with tribute for a period. The Hyksos Fifteenth Dynasty rulers established their capital and seat of government at Memphis and their summer residence at Avaris.
A group of Asiatic peoples (perhaps the future Hyksos) depicted entering Egypt c.1900 BC from the tomb of a 12th dynasty official Khnumhotep under pharaoh Senusret II at Beni Hasan. The glyphs above are above the head of the first animal

The rule of these kings overlaps with that of the native Egyptian pharaohs of the 16th and 17th dynasties of Egypt, better known as the Second Intermediate Period. The first pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, Ahmose I, finally expelled the Hyksos from their last holdout at Sharuhen in Gaza by the 16th year of his reign.[1][2] Scholars have taken the increasing use of scarabs and the adoption of some Egyptian forms of art by the Fifteenth Dynasty Hyksos kings and their wide distribution as an indication of their becoming progressively Egyptianized.[3] The Hyksos used Egyptian titles associated with traditional Egyptian kingship, and took the Egyptian god Seth to represent their own titulary deity.[4] It would appear as though Hyksos administration was accepted in most quarters, if not actually supported by many of their northern Egyptian subjects. In spite of the prosperity that the stable political situation brought to the land, the native Egyptians continued to view the Hyksos as non-Egyptian "invaders". When they were eventually driven out of Egypt, all traces of their occupation were erased. No accounts survive recording the history of the period from the Hyksos perspective, only that of the native Egyptians who evicted the occupiers, in this case the rulers of Eighteenth Dynasty who were the direct successor of the Theban Seventeenth Dynasty.[5] It was the latter who started and led a sustained war against the Hyksos. Some think that the native kings from Thebes had an incentive to demonize the Asiatic rulers in the North, thus accounting for the destruction of their monuments. From this viewpoint the Hyksos dynasties represent superficially Egyptianized foreigners who were tolerated, but not truly accepted, by their Egyptian subjects. In contrast scholars such as John A. Wilson found that the description of the Hyksos as overpowering, irreligious foreign rulers had support from other sources.[6]

The independent native rulers in Thebes do seem, however, to have reached a practical modus vivendi with the later Hyksos rulers. This included transit rights through Hyksos-controlled Middle and Lower Egypt and pasturage rights in the fertile Delta. One text, the Carnarvon Tablet I, relates the misgivings of the Theban ruler’s council of advisors when Kamose proposed moving against the Hyksos, whom he claimed were a humiliating stain upon the holy land of Egypt. The councilors clearly did not wish to disturb the status quo:
“ … we are at ease in our (part of) Egypt. Elephantine (at the First Cataract) is strong, and the middle (of the land) is with us as far as Cusae [near modern Asyut]. The sleekest of their fields are plowed for us, and our cattle are pastured in the Delta. Emmer is sent for our pigs. Our cattle have not been taken away… He holds the land of the Asiatics; we hold Egypt…"[7]

Re: Hills and Valleys Reprise
Adam and Lilith

[link to en.wikipedia.org]
Adam holding on to a child while Lilith appears on a tree.

The first medieval source to depict Adam and Lilith in full was the Midrash Abkir (ca. 10th century), which was followed by the Zohar and Kabbalistic writings. Adam is said to be perfect until he recognizes either his sin or Cain's fratricide that is the cause of bringing death into the world. He then separates from holy Eve, sleeps alone, and fasts for 130 years. During this time Lilith, also known as Pizna or Naamah, desired his beauty and came to him against his will. She bore him many demons and spirits called "the plagues of humankind".[54] The added explanation was that it was through Adam's own sin that Lilith overcame him against his will.
"Lilith" from Michelangelo's "The Temptation of Adam and Eve". A common iconographic depiction of the serpent of Eden in late Medieval and Renaissance art.

Older sources state clearly that after Lilith's Red Sea sojourn, she returned to Adam and begat children from him. In the Zohar, however, Lilith is said to have succeeded in begetting offspring from Adam during their short-lived sexual experience. Lilith leaves Adam in Eden, as she is not a suitable helpmate for him. She returns, later, to force herself upon him. However, before doing so she attaches herself to Cain and bears him numerous spirits and demons.[54]
[edit] Samael and Lilith

The mystical writing of two brothers Jacob and Isaac Hacohen, which predates the Zohar by a few decades, states that Samael and Lilith are in the shape of an androgynous being, double-faced, born out of the emanation of the Throne of Glory and corresponding in the spiritual realm to Adam and Eve, who were likewise born as a hermaphrodite. The two twin androgynous couples resembled each other and both "were like the image of Above"; that is, that they are reproduced in a visible form of an androgynous deity.[55]

Another version that was also current among Kabbalistic circles in the Middle Ages establishes Lilith as the first of Samael's four wives: Lilith, Naamah, Igrath, and Mahalath. Each of them are mothers of demons and have their own hosts and unclean spirits in no number.[56] The marriage of archangel Samael and Lilith was arranged by "Blind Dragon", who is the counterpart of "the dragon that is in the sea". Blind Dragon acts as an intermediary between Lilith and Samael:

Blind Dragon rides Lilith the Sinful -- may she be extirpated quickly in our days, Amen! -- And this Blind Dragon brings about the union between Samael and Lilith. And just as the Dragon that is in the sea (Isa. 27:1) has no eyes, likewise Blind Dragon that is above, in the likeness of a spiritual form, is without eyes, that is to say, without colors.... (Patai81:458) Samael is called the Slant Serpent, and Lilith is called the Tortuous Serpent.[57]

The marriage of Samael and Lilith is known as the "Angel Satan" or the "Other God," but it was not allowed to last. To prevent Lilith and Samael's demonic children Lilin from filling the world, God castrated Samael. In many 17th century Kabbalistic books, this mythologem is based on the identification of "Leviathan the Slant Serpent and Leviathan the Torturous Serpent" and a reinterpretation of an old Talmudic myth where God castrated the male Leviathan and slew the female Leviathan in order to prevent them from mating and thereby destroying the earth.[58] After Samael became castrated and Lilith was unable to fornicate with him, she left him to couple with men who experience nocturnal emissions. A 15th or 16th century Kabbalah text states that God has "cooled" the female Leviathan, meaning that he has made Lilith infertile and she is a mere fornication.
[edit] The Two Liliths

A passage in the 13th century document called the Treatise on the Left Emanation says that there are two Liliths, the lesser being married to the great demon Asmodeus.

In answer to your question concerning Lilith, I shall explain to you the essence of the matter. Concerning this point there is a received tradition from the ancient Sages who made use of the Secret Knowledge of the Lesser Palaces, which is the manipulation of demons and a ladder by which one ascends to the prophetic levels. In this tradition, it is made clear that Samael and Lilith were born as one, similar to the form of Adam and Eve who were also born as one, reflecting what is above. This is the account of Lilith which was received by the Sages in the Secret Knowledge of the Palaces. The Matron Lilith is the mate of Samael. Both of them were born at the same hour in the image of Adam and Eve, intertwined in each other. Asmodeus the great king of the demons has as a mate the Lesser (younger) Lilith, daughter of the king whose name is Qafsefoni. The name of his mate is Mehetabel daughter of Matred, and their daughter is Lilith.[59]

Lilith tempting Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. 15th Century.

Another passage charges Lilith as being a tempting serpent of Eve's:

And the Serpent, the Woman of Harlotry, incited and seduced Eve through the husks of Light which in itself is holiness. And the Serpent seduced Holy Eve, and enough said for him who understands. And all this ruination came about because Adam the first man coupled with Eve while she was in her menstrual impurity – this is the filth and the impure seed of the Serpent who mounted Eve before Adam mounted her. Behold, here it is before you: because of the sins of Adam the first man all the things mentioned came into being. For Evil Lilith, when she saw the greatness of his corruption, became strong in her husks, and came to Adam against his will, and became hot from him and bore him many demons and spirits and Lilin.
