Re: I want to join Amway.
One last thing about Amway ((and the name in the US now Quixtar) .... You'll often see promoted some of the big names in the industry. I don't know who they are now, but they used to be names like Dexter Yeager, Bob Britt, etc.

Keep in mind that many of those people used to derive only 1/3 of their income from the actual Amway business themselves. The rest came from the books and weekly motivational tapes they sold to their downlines.

expensive lesson it was, and embarrassing to all that know me.
products overpriced and over rated.

Re: I want to join Amway.
Also notice that their regional meetings are often called "Family Reunions". Yes, subtle brainwashing.

As I mentioned, I was in other MLMs, but used to buy Amway tapes on eBay to listen to when mowing, during chores or on long trips because I figured I could learn something from successful people.

I was shocked at what I heard. The religious tie-in was a big disturbing. But more so the waste of money in order to show "success". The Emeralds and Diamonds kept buying big and bigger cars, got bigger and bigger planes and built bigger and bigger houses.

I remember one that bragged about their 35,000 sq ft home with a 5,000 sq ft master bedroom suite. Their front door was some exotic wood that cost a couple of hundred thousand.

I thought .. no one says that Amway will last forever. Wouldn't it make more sense to INVEST that money into something that would provide yet ANOTHER income stream.

I sold those tapes back again on eBay. I did keep two because I thought they were funny and entertaining: "Oh Harry!" and "The Day the Posture Struck".

Re: I want to join Amway.
Please know all runners are not winners. yet no amway people replied for your questions..First of all dont think we earn lots and lots of money from amway, for that we have to work hard. You know for Rs 2000-5000 salary, people are working 8-9 hours for a month. Here it is not like that..for any successful business there should be an organisation so only we introduce people. As they said, recruiting is a wrong word. for selling and earning you may go to hindustan liver limited and join as representative. All have wrongly understood the Amway. thing is very clear, as all accept products are good, so you join and use it..If you go to one cenima, if it is nice, you may share it to your close friends and relatives na, like that just tell how the products are to them, and make them to use it. thats all logic.

Application of formula in correct place is success, but most of them dont know the formula itself, and few dont know how to apply..Please if you want to make clear anything please ask the experts or well known person in that field.

Join and create an oragniation for yourself and u will sucess.. If you have a shop or do any business, and if am your friend, we we say.. hi my friend is owning so and so shop so if you want go and tell my name and get it ..he will give you a good one..this is practical..as like that only.

Above is an example of how you build your network. You recruit everywhere including GLP. If you're comfortable doing this, and some are, then you might succeed too.

I wasn't comfortable when friends talked to me this way, but he's pleasant, there's nothing wrong with it imho.

Just tried again, and it's not posting. I guess if you have more than a few words to say, that GLP has made it so you cannot post--even after all you've written. It just kicks it out and doesn't post. Too bad. I used to be an Amway salesman and I was answering your questions, but what the hell, I've even re-written the post (because I lost it the first time this happened, and now I cannot post what I've written, maybe because there's now a character limit. Sorry. That makes GLP stink for me.

Re: I want to join Amway.
Don't do it. It's a joke...

They tell you, "Oh, you don't have to sell anything, you just have to use their products and sign up others (down-line's) to do the same and you get residuals from others using Amway products.

There are two types of Amyway reps that I have met or heard about;

1) The new guy who isn't making any money yet and
2) The guy who grew up a poor black kid in a run-down shack on the poor side of town and now he's a rich, white man with a half-million dollar RV, 6 houses and a trophy wife...and he did it all with Amway.

I have NEVER met an Amway person who is actually making a realistic income selling Amway; say $30-$70K. It's always one extreme or the other.

When they give you their sales pitch they always have to point out the "exceptions"; people who went from rags to riches and now make 6 figures and live in luxury...but you'll never actually meet them. They only seem to exist on a piece of paper.

In short, it's a scam. Stay away. They make their money by selling you their "starter kit" and getting you to scam your friends and neighbors into doing the same.
I only believe half of what I read and even half of that is bullshit.

Re: I want to join Amway.
Amway isn't a good way to earn money, your profit margin is too low for being "self employed".

However....

You can scam Amway back and use them to learn sales techniques. Amway will teach you some of the basics. You can learn a lot. Just don't fall for their scam.

If you can scam your handler for free advice and free training then go for it.

You can get a real sales job with info scammed from Amway. If your really good, you can be self employed.

Good luck!

Re: I want to join Amway.
Couple of things:

1. The BIG money is in their training system. You're not going to have the big house and nice car, even at Diamond level, unless you start making the training weekends. By that, I mean SPEAKING at the training weekends, not attending. You have to suck up to (edify) your upline so that they will put you on their speaker roster.

2. Their training system is good! That's why the Big Pins make so much money. You'll learn a ton of people skills. And isn't that what sales is anyway? Finding out what someone wants and figuring out if and how you can fulfill their needs?

The best advice I got when I was in, was from an Emerald named Jack Zimmerman. He said, "Forget all the rah rah hooplah! Just sell soap. Make customers who will buy from you, then ask them after a while if they would like to buy the product wholesale. Don't get sucked into the money scheme."

I took the lessons I learned from Amway and started my own business; The Grain Mill of Wake Forest. Last year I sold nearly $250K worth of product.

Remember that entrepreneurship is the "law of the jungle". You eat what you kill. If someone else is cutting you a paycheck, you're not in business for yourself.

Re: I want to join Amway.
Been there and done that . . .

Problem is, you need to recruit people and have your people recruit people to sell the idea of the business and buy the products.

You contact all your friends and family and have them do the same and so on. Pretty soon you run out of people you know and then the real work begins.

Also, all the people you recruited must buy Amway products which in turn make you some money. Problem here are the cost of their products are ridiculous and even with discounts they are still higher than other brands bought in local stores.

Simply put: It's a numbers game, the more people you contact and they contact and so on, the better off you will be later. It's not easy and I couldn't afford the products anyway and being I lived alone at the time, I couldn't buy for just one and make it worth while.

You have the last say in this OP, but once in, it's hard to get out. Also, they used to force you to buy their tapes which were very expensive too. They were basically incentive stories to help you keep going. But in the group I was in, it was mandatory and they made you feel guilty for not following their strict habits which you were to pass along to people you have recruited as well.

Re: I want to join Amway.
And that's another thing about the Internet as well. Most companies now no longer need MLMers.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1527092

Not exactly true.

Most companies are good at administrative work, management, coming up with good products and comp plans, but suck really bad at marketing and recruiting.

The successful ones have had distributors come up with their own Internet lead capture pages, videos, etc...

Most of the capture pages and videos promoting MLM on the Internet were designed by MLM distributors.

For the OP --

I love MLM (as my name suggests), been doing it since 1987 (promoted about 5 or 6 deals through that time frame, took a corporate position in another) but here's my advice:

1) Amway is way too saturated and hard to promote. nearly everyone has heard of it and will probably shoot you down. That's why you usually do not to tell prospects you're sending them off to an Amway Opportunity meeting.

2) Find something that has a product or service you will actually use yourself and not stockpile just to qualify for commissions.

3) A company that has been in business at least 2 years, preferably five, but not widely known.

4) A comp plan that you can understand without a degree in math. Binaries are usually hyped up and usually suck. Company pockets a ton of money from non-qualifying legs.

5) It isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. Expect to put in 2 years of solid work before you will start seeing the big paydays. But, it's worth it. You would have to do that anyway with most other businesses and spend a shit-ton of money to get started. You need capital in MLM do anything substantial, but nowhere near as much as traditional businesses. Why? You're going to run out of friends, family, and people you know to talk to and most will say no. You need to do something consistently over time to get your presentation in the hands of new people every day.

 Quoting: TheBiss

Yea, but why spend that kind of money and get attached to them?

You can join any reputable company and pick up generic training systems that will do the trick. Todd Falcone & Casey Eberhardt are two of my personal friends in the biz that have awesome training material at ridiculously cheap prices, plus free calls each week you can listen in on. Todd focuses mainly on calling leads sold by lead generation companies, Casey on generating your own local prospects.

Tom (Big Al) Schreiter -- Good stuff as well and reasonably priced. Met him a few times in person (don't know him well though) -- really cool guy that made a shit-ton of money in the biz and has his own company now.

If you're really dedicated, go to this event (Been four times and I always come out of there with new stuff):

Anyone ever been involved? Can you make money?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 737047

My wife and I were in Amway for 5 years. I was able to recruit 10 "down line legs" (aka, recruited 10 people personally). However, very few of these people were able to recruit even one person themselves, making all my effort worthless.

And of course during this entire time, we were constantly shelling out money to go to "seminars" and "functions". This was back in the very early 90s.

Our total outlay ended up being around $10,000/yr for 5 years, giving us a net LOSS of $50,000.

The bottom line of Amway is PONZI as many have already pointed out to you. Were I able to go back in time and change something, I'd dump our Amway experience in a heartbeat. But, alas, that is not possible. Therefore, I'm giving you the straight scoop on "SCAMWAY".

The saddest part about SCAMWAY is that it ALWAYS flourishes when the economy is in the shitter, when people are economically desperate. Therefore, when people are financially down and out, the SCAMWAY lead life preserver is thrown their way to "save" them, consuming their very last drops of financial blood, sinking them to the bottom of financial despair.

Hi All,

Its a long lasting debate whether it is a good company or not.
But the fact is it is growing at tremendious pace.

I am a proud member of Amway , and I believe it is a good second income source.
However, it is not a get-rich scheme. You need to work for some 4-5 hrs per week.

Anybody in India who is interested to join can contact me at [email protected]

Best Regards,
Ajay
