This obsession of yours will not go away if you continue to deny it exists. please move on. You wonīt have much of a life if you devote it to the condition of teeth in England. Unless of course you plan to be a dentist there. |
| toothfairy 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ok iīll feed your obvious wind up tendencies. if some (SOME) brits ave bad teeth hereīs why NHS: Supply of dentists at crisis point The crisis in NHS dentistry is set to worsen in the coming years, with staff shortages expected to more than double, a Government report has revealed. Figures compiled and published by the Department of Health (DoH) showed that in 2003 there was a shortage of 1,850 dentists in England. But projections for 2011 showed that shortages were expected to increase to at least 3,640 and perhaps as high as 5,100. The British Dental Association (BDA) said there was now no doubt that the supply of dentists had reached crisis point. The long-awaited Report of the Primary Care Dental Workforce Review, published without fanfare on the DoH website, calculated supply and demand for dental services based on population projections and dental registration data. The authors then calculated the current and future gap between supply and demand. Last week Health Secretary John Reid promised to bring an extra 1,000 dentists into the NHS by October 2005 in a bid to improve services for patients. But based on the latest workforce review, this would still leave the NHS significantly short of enough dentists to meet demand. Severe shortages have already led to long queues of patients forming outside new dental practices, with less than half of adults in England now registered with an NHS dentist. It is expected that around 650 of the extra dentists promised by the Government will be new recruits either from Britain or overseas. Dr Reid said the changes to dentistry were part of the biggest reforms since the service began in 1948. He also said that by 2005/06 NHS dentists would receive extra funding of more than Ģ250 million a year - an increase of 19.3% compared to 2003/04. But John Renshaw, chair of the BDAīs executive board, said today: "There is no doubt that the supply of dentists has reached crisis point, as patients trying to access dental treatment know only too well. "This long overdue report underlines the severity of the situation and shows that the gap between patient need and the number of dentists required is set to get even worse |

| yggdrasil 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are many danes with bad teeth because it costs so much to go to the dentist. Why dentistry isnīt covered by the national health insurance, I canīt say, but there you go. I will say that while I donīt think people should have those awful, unnatural shiny white teeth, there is something to be said about good oral hygiene. I saw a woman lawyer talking on television one day. She looked great, well-dressed, groomed, etc. until she opened her mouth. Really bad, stereotypical british teeth. So, IMO, having decent teeth is important. Donīt have to be perfect but clean looking makes a difference. |

And perfect, molded hair and flawless skin. And anorexic, adolescent looking bodies. The current fetish is pseudo-pedophilia. As young as you can get it without getting arrested. Yuck. Itīs called superficiality, and itīs about the only thing average Americans are really good at. |

Itīs not about personal associations-itīs about noticing what unnatural, superficial crap is being thrown at your brain in every media format available. Itīs what drives a major portion of the American economy. |

Hollywood and the media is obsessed. I am an average american and am not however, nor are my associates. so I guess not all average americans fall under your generalizations. |

Iīm sure somebody has thought of worse, and Iīm still breathing. Youīve got your opinion, Iīve got mine. If mine offended you-well, itīll just have to, I guess. No skin off my back. |
| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | All you gots to do is pick up an issue of "Hello", it is shocking how many wealthy elite status people over there have the skankiest rotten teeth. I think that is why the Americans loved Princess Di so much, she was one of the first to have gorgeous white teeth! The Queen has teeth like a gopherīs long and yellow and ugly, especially since the royals hate smoking so much (ruins the taste of the blood) they sure do have some ugly teeth. |

| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Itīs like on the Simpsons, they show a īpictureī of Prince Charles with terrible teeth, but if you look at photographs of him, he has perfect white teeth, but letīs not let fact interfere with delusions, shall we? If we Brits based our perception of Americans on what we see on tv then youīre overly obese, with the most ridiculous hairstyles, always whining, having sex with your sisters/brothers and even horses! It interesting that only around 8% of Americans own a passport so you can only get your information on the outside world from tv, newspapers and hollywood and we all know how reliable they are, donīt we? |
