Just Had The Crap Scared Outta Me. |

Report Copyright Violation | Just Had The Crap Scared Outta Me. I went out back a little while ago to put some fishing gear into my boat.
I walked out onto the deck and headed towards my dock.
When I got to the steps at the bottom of the deck I caught a black thing outta the corner of my eye. I turned around and there was a huge black bear on my deck. I had walked right past it. I didnīt even see it about 9 feet to my left as I went out the door.
Now I had a bear between me and my house. The bear saw me and came off the deck and started walking towards me and all I had were a couple of stupid fishing rods as a weapon.
I ran down to the dock and jumped on my boat with the cover still on it and untied just as the bear got to the edge of the dock. I pushed off and waited until the stupid bear decided I wasnīt interesting anymore and walked away.
Sounds stupid but I wasnīt scared until he started walking towards me. I kinda felt like lunch for a minute or so and felt kinda dumb sitting on top of the boat cover floating on the lake after he walked away. |

On a related note, once i was in Africa and this one guy I was travelling with was an ahole, so one night i noticed a large elephant standing perfectly still next to both our tents. I saw the guy coming down the path and decided not to say anything about the elephant until he was right in front of it. He was about to walk into his tent with this elephant standing right there next to him and a tree and then I said "hey! watch out for the elephant!" It caught the guy by such surprise that he almost jumped out of his shorts lol. Anyway, it was fking hilarious and proves that large animals can easily disguise themselves, at least if were not paying attention. |

We have a family story where gramps took a bunch of old women out to pick blackberries in the woods. While they were picking and chatting he spied a bear a little bit away watching them. He said nothing and didnīt tell the women until they were back at the cabin. Why? Because they would have panicked and started screaming and running and set the bear off. It is the nature of a predatory animal to give chase. |

BTW, possums can take several hits from a pellet gun and wonīt die. So I have been told. Shhh. |

I think the bear must have smelled food on me. I had just feed my kidīs cat and I must have gotten some of the cat food juice on me. |

Try moving to Alaska theres more bears than people up here and they wont do anything about it. They can come in your yard and destroy property and kill your pets and they just say OH hes just a juvenile bear out having some fun. |

Have lived in Florida all my life and saw my first black bear two weeks ago. Was travelling on HWY 40 in the Ocala National Forest and right beside the road was a huge black bear foraging. We slowed not knowing what we were seeing in the distance(I thought at first it was some incredibly huge black dog haha) and when it saw us it fled into the forest. This was in the middle of the afternoon with few cars on the road. The kids were so excited. We have travelled the road many times and have never seen anything like that. |
