Mike Tyson is being used not to justify vegan-ism, but to counter the argument that turning vegan is impossible because your body needs animal proteins or the argument that vegetable-only diet weakens you.

The point is if a 300 lb gorilla used to a heavy protein diet can turn vegan without any adverse health effect or without losing any physical strength, anyone can.

Well first of all dipshit its not my argument. I have never in my life said that vegans are pussies etc. I just like meat so i personally chose to eat it. I dont how ever use famous people feeling the same as a way to justify it as many vegans do.

My post was targeted towards refuting the usual arguments against vegetarianism and not towards meat-eaters. You chose to see it as an argument against meat-eating and despite the clarity of my argument, you choose to look at the use of Mike Tyson as validation of vegan lifestyle.

Why is it so difficult for you to understand that I may have different use of giving an example of a famous person?

I think that the strong "anti-vegan" response is not about eating meat, health or rational thought at all.

I have, after some study on this topic, come to the hypothesis that the strong anti-meat eating bias is a fear based response in which those that eat meat fear, on a subconscious level, appearing weak.

To this end they make up stories not backed by fact, about poor health in vegetarians and vegans (when on the whole the opposite is what is backed by science and most of the data)and imply weakness on the physical level in an attempt to distract from their own deep seated fear.

Veganism is associated with extreme kindness and gentleness. This kind of thinking, empathy, compassion, are all looked down upon by a certain kind of person.

That kind of person normally has specific traits that can be seen. They tend to be conservative and show an unusually high startle response. (This goes hand in hand for both fearful people and many conservatives, who adopt their beliefs do to fear...)If male they are likely to exhibit high amounts of homophobia, and will be unable to understand why they feel disgust and hatred of gays. (It is another slightly related fear response, basically a fear that they are themselves prone to homosexuality on some level.)

This is covered with overt hostility, denigration of others and attacks without seeming purpose.This is often followed by boasting or attempting to appear particularly manly by acting in an aggressive fashion.

It is, of course, just a hypothesis, but so far it seems to be working well enough.

If such people can learn to let go of their own fears, such attacks would become unneeded of course. After all Vegans and vegetarians don't really harm anyone with their vegie eating ways....
