In his report John Kessler does NOT assert that the levels of methane he found in the Gulf are comparable to what occurred in past mass extinctions. This is fear-mongering drivel by Drudge to draw visitors to the website.

Yep! Thats what I thought as soon as I read this.

Unfortunately this labratory "SITE" is planet Earth. Do these people really believe Methane, Benzene, H2S, Corexit, etc. respect state troopers, international boundaries, or carry passports???

Immediate regional dangers such as ingition and poisoning not withstanding, these gases will contribute greatly to run-away global warming. Already the sub-artic permafrost is decaying at an alarming rate, which represents yet another VAST source of Methane and CO2. This enormous release of terraforming gases from the GOM will accellerate this trend severely. As staged with the intent to forward the WTO's floundering carbon tax agenda.

Recently it has also been discovered that CO2 is also cooling and therefore shrinking our thermosphere, which protects life on Earth from solar radition, just as we enter into Earth's most active solar cycle in recent history.

So essentially we are all sitting in extinction's petri dish. Including those who delude themselves into believing they are in control of this experiment.

The only difference is this ISNT just predicted dates or psychics saying Aliens are coming to visit. This is serious professional Scientists putting their careers on the line and openly announcing that the Methane Levels in the Gulf are beyond sustainable control.
It was origionally thought the Siberian Trap Permafrost would be the first place to look for in the event of a wide-scale Methane release, but it seems this (intentionally or not) is solely everyones focus right now, and rightly so.

The most likely cause of this rapid global warming over such a short period is the release of methane into the atmosphere. Methane is 60 times more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas but only remains in the atmosphere for about ten years and so looses it's greenhouse effect quickly compared to CO2 which remains in the atmosphere for 100 years. CO2 would not be available in sufficient quantities to achieve the rapid warming and if CO2 was the cause then the raised temperatures would last a lot longer.

This has been my theory for weeks. They want to bump up temps to 'prove' global warming, maybe they lost control, allowed too much menthane to escape

The argument is this… can MAN duplicate this natural process…? can MAN induce this, can MAN contribute….?

You are lost. Methane levels on this magnitude (tested and confirmed – not Drudge) have a sinister affect DESPITE who churns them up (GOD or MAN or Giant Owl!)…

Methane changes atmospheric temperature and oceanographic patterns and temps. This triggers the further release of frozen gasses (hydrates, more methane)… and leads to a warming trigger which, IF it tips the average global temp beyond 4 degrees…

WILL CAUSE A SHIT STORM THAT YOU CAN ONLY SEE IN FOSSIL & GEOLOGICAL RECORDS.

If the recorded levels are to be trusted (although we need more scientists able to access areas prohibited by King BP – or better yet, OUR REPRESENTATIVE GOV - to further test certain sites)… then we are fucked as a PLANET.

If you are looking for DOOM from this (methane levels) tomorrow… you will have to keep waiting. Although, Ice ages can happen instantaneously, global climate patterns will let you know surely enough.
