If this is for real...why hasn't oil COVERED more beaches? I know, I know, but they couldn't cover-up that much oil with ANY amount of Corexit?

WHERE'S ALL THE CRUDE OIL????

and why is it blood red?

Hmmmmmmmmm... hey Matt more questions for you

In no way do I trust BP, but I wonder the same thing. Where is all this oil going. If we still have a gusher out there, oil should still be washing up on the beaches.

it is

Did you happen to catch the photos of the 48 hour old China Spill? Two days old and it looks WORSE than New Orleans...except for the dude swimming in it!

If the first well blew out on feb 3, then why didn't any oil hit the beaches? Surely it wouldn't take 4 months.

This is the first thing I thought about, as well, when I first read this thread.

With a full month and a half of oil gushing, shouldn't SOMEONE have noticed and raised a curious eyebrow?

More like two and a half months. Just clarifying.

There were no dispersants (corexit) used on the chinese spill.

That's the whole point of the dispersant ... if you missed it.

The well blew, but the BOP on that one worked like it was suppose to and shut off the oil and gas flow. That is why their was no oil flowing then from well A. But I think that they did not expect the BOP on that well to hold forever and that is why they rushed the well B, RELIEF! well that blew on April 20th and it's BOP did not work.

Agreed! The ploy of corexit was to hide the damage, an invisible killer, a slow poison to those who are stupid enough to go swim in the gulf. Can't forget those fisherman that need to continue their income at the sake of their future health.

Reminds me of the sheep soldiers they put in harms way while they tested for the A-Bomb.

Here is the screenshot for the A and B wells from Google Maps pro.

.6 miles apart:

[link to tinypic.com]

Your screen shot actually shows.. 0.06 miles.

Or 6 100ths of a mile or 96 meters.

Anyone else have google map pro? I can't verify this with mapquest or any other free map program on the internet. As far as we know it could be 6 miles or .06 miles. Someone please verify with the lat and long from the first page.

Well A which was the first well drilled, dident blow up, or had a blow out, they were drilling it as a exploration well and encountered alot of pressure, they pushed the drill too hard and fractured the rock, it got stuck, they then tried to send some tools down and those got stuck, they decided to

abandon it and cement it over, this was in documents releases when this all began but people forgot about it, they then moved on to drill the second well and that one was the one that blew up, i guess they werent expecting the whole area to be under such high pressure or so unstable, talk about arrogants.

Now the question is, did they really cap the one that blew up or are they now just showing us footage of the initial well a that was cemented over and is not having problems.

What you need to understand was this was an exploration project. BP was to drill 2 exploration wells.

It was supposed to find oil then cap it to later become a subsea producer. Basically an underwater rig controlled from the shore.

Page 5 of this doc. can explain a subsea producer better:

[link to posccaesar.vestforsk.no]

They only drilled in one spot (at least since Feb.)
When the rig sank it moved about 1500 ft. NW of the well center.

[link to www.offshore-technology.com]

But there has always been at least 3 leaks reported one at the wellhead and 2 in the pipe. Basically what is reported now is the pipe was cut and the wellhead was capped. Problem now is if the seafloor will hold.

Personally I think there are more leaks at the seafloor or possibly an erupting volcano and they have no clue what to do, but I do think their hole is capped.

Ok, so they drill site A and it either blew out -"they almost blew up the rig" or created a situation that required a shut down. So, in that situation where they abandon the well or that it blew out but the rig was saved -Did they lose the pipe between the rig and the BOP with a emergency detach? Is site A what we see now? Where we saw a cut riser and an intact BOP. And the real problem is where the deep horizon was drilling Site B - either a relief well for site A or another failed attempt to access one of the richest oil/gas fields on this planet resulting in a blowout of both wells?

Forget site A & B for a second.

They were drilling in the seafloor, trying to go to fast and got stuck (never reached oil but there is always gas). They were stuck bad and had to sever the drill pipe around March 10. Then they had to start repairing the area they drilled and drill a different route.

This was all reported to the MMS.

They were fighting with the repairs the whole time but wanted the oil. The cement wasn't repairing the well cracks like it should have and many times they would have to use different substances the try to plug the holes.

Transocean said BP was in the process abandoning the rig when it blew, and that may be possible. They may have been pulling up the drill when the the gas escaped and blew the rig, but it seems like others on the rig would have reported that fact.

Personally I think they were still going after the oil and lost control of the gas escaping the well.

How far apart are these wells?

I tried to find this out myself with Google Earth but the coordinates were so close together it made it impossible for me.

My guesstimate was about 7-10 miles apart when I tried to map it, but I couldn't get the scaling to be any more precise.
 Quoting: Oiled in Florida

Using the Live Ships Map
[link to www.marinetraffic.com]

I'm showing Well A at the exact location of BOA DEEP C.
The coordinates for Well B
put it SW (8:00 on a clockface)about 1/2" from Well A.

According to the Scale provided.... they are approx.
500 feet apart....
not 10 miles.

Well A cannot be the exploratory well that
Matt Simmons is speaking of.

Was there ANOTHER exploratory well involved?
There must be...
as Simmons is always emphatic about being 10 miles away.
No mistake there.

at about 30 seconds and again at 3 min. into video you see two rigs. In the daytime shot the burning rig is further away, but I remember simmons saying that the coast guard ships were pushing the burning rig away from the blown hole with the water, so in the second shot the rig looks further away. Am I seeing things?
