We are 3K below mileage. There are two small dents on the car barely noticable which they are charing us 250 a piece, charging us 120 a piece for 3 new tires and 700 for a small paint stain on the back carpet...and a 350 turn in fee Quoting: zephyris the lease agreement so lawyer tight that I am screwed? I do not understand 700.00 for carpet... You were fucking stupid to get into a lease. You didn't read the fine print of the lease, you got the car on an impulse buy, etc, etc. The fucking lease companies are crooks. Be careful next time, and you will have to chock this up to a good learning experience. Sorry... |

I'm not going to bash you as you may be just inexperienced, but leasing is a scam. Especially with how low they're willing to go in terms of interest on a loan these days to finance. Lease, rent to own, it's sheer usury at best. |

My gues is its a high pressure sale to get you to resign a lease. Photograph & measure the 'dings' & contact your states attorney general. My last lease (work car - leasing helps with taxes) any ding under 1/4 inch was wear & tear. You can also try to contact the dealership manager - who may prefer to wave fees than fight the attorney general. |

These are egregious charges, I would fight them. Sounds like a good bit of normal wear and tear. I guess I would call different places in your town and see if they would do the same thing if you turned the car into them, just to get an idea of the market. I would also call some sort of consumer agency. Times are tough. If they can get you to do these things then they can sell the car for more money. They are experts on this and you are not so they use that to their advantage. Good luck. Quoting: Traveleryeah thanks traveler. We lease because of my husbands job, and it is completely deductable on our taxes. I know what the lease agreement said and I knew they were going to call us on the tires, there was literally no tread left, there is not much I can do about that I am fairly certain. My biggest grip is the carpet. Thanks for you input. This is the kicker, had we released from VW there were be none of these charges, so I know it is a scam... and traveler, the dealership where we leased the car told us it was in good condtion and they were going to buy it because they needed it on the lot, so I know VW is not going to fix the items they are charging us for.. Quoting: TravelerDents and spilled paint are not "normal wear and tear" Those figures are about industry standard. But if I was hit with turn in fees like that I would have just bought the car instead of turning it back in. Something to consider. Just because you turned the car in at the dealer does not mean you LEASED IT FROM THEM. Many times your lease it thru a bank. When you turn you car in at the dealer it is parked and there it sits until the bank comes to pick it up. The bankers have it inspected and go after fees. If this is the case calling better business or whomever will not help one bit. If its thru the dealership sometimes this will help.....but times are tight and they may fight it. You could loose this money plus legal fees because there are dents and there is paint stain that they can prove. Never lease anything that isnt a honda or acura, or toyota...Anything with low resale value and you get raped on lease. |

Is it a floormat? or the actual carpet? How much labor to you think it takes to remove all your seats, consoles and seat belts, lay down a new carpet, then reinstall all those parts? Im betting this is a 6 hour job, and the new carpet is probably about 300$ at dealer cost. |

A new VW is still to small and was going to be expensive the dealership has nothing to do with the lease, it is through VW..ugggh but I am sure it is still on the lot because the dealership wanted the car Live and let live.......really |

Look at it as costing you an extra $52 per month for the lease. I've been screwed so many times by VW. Bad reliability issues. Buy Hondas. Most are made in the USA. My 2006 Civic has more North American parts then a Ford F150. |
