leased a VW for 3 years, did not go over miles go hit with 1900.00 bill after turning in vehicle...anyone been through this?

seriously. We are 3K below mileage. There are two small dents on the car barely noticable which they are charing us 250 a piece, charging us 120 a piece for 3 new tires and 700 for a small paint stain on the back carpet...and a 350 turn in fee


is the lease agreement so lawyer tight that I am screwed? I do not understand 700.00 for carpet...

These are egregious charges, I would fight them. Sounds like a good bit of normal wear and tear. I guess I would call different places in your town and see if they would do the same thing if you turned the car into them, just to get an idea of the market. I would also call some sort of consumer agency. Times are tough. If they can get you to do these things then they can sell the car for more money. They are experts on this and you are not so they use that to their advantage. Good luck.

& i bet they told you they can wave all the fees if you roll into a new lease. wow - what a great favor (sarcam intended). My gues is its a high pressure sale to get you to resign a lease.

Photograph & measure the 'dings' & contact your states attorney general.

My last lease (work car - leasing helps with taxes) any ding under 1/4 inch was wear & tear.

You can also try to contact the dealership manager - who may prefer to wave fees than fight the attorney general.

Can you get the car fised at your expense?

or ask them for written quotes from 3 repair shops?

yeah thanks traveler. We lease because of my husbands job, and it is completely deductable on our taxes. I know what the lease agreement said and I knew they were going to call us on the tires, there was literally no tread left, there is not much I can do about that I am fairly certain.

My biggest grip is the carpet. Thanks for you input.

This is the kicker, had we released from VW there were be none of these charges, so I know it is a scam...

and traveler, the dealership where we leased the car told us it was in good condtion and they were going to buy it because they needed it on the lot, so I know VW is not going to fix the items they are charging us for..

Is it a floormat? or the actual carpet? How much labor to you think it takes to remove all your seats, consoles and seat belts, lay down a new carpet, then reinstall all those parts? Im betting this is a 6 hour job, and the new carpet is probably about 300$ at dealer cost.
