Is it bad to eat meat that defrosted then froze again

if you used the english system than 3 degrees would have been plenty cold.

It depends how defrost it was and for how long. Since it was in the freezer, I would guess it was still cold.

Rule is you shouldn't defrost meat, and then freeze it again. Reason being, when you defrost meat, you have the chance of bacteria to grow. Thus you cook it afterwards to kill off any bacteria.

But if some did grow and you froze it, it is still there and thus you could get sick. It will come down how it was prepare before sending it to the store. Quality is another thing you lose when you refreeze meat.

Would you get sick? prob not, its more of a safety precaution.

If it was fully defrosted and the meat wasn't cold and felt room temp, then you could cook it, then refreeze it to be safe.

When you say defrosted do you mean to room temperature, or just that it had started to thaw out a bit. Your probably OK if it just thawed out a little, don't forget the ole' smell n' sight test and see that it's well cooked. Try a bit yourself before hand, I've sometimes done it, but more ofton than not I chuck it out.

Yes, now you need to cook it thoroughly, like a roast.

If the meat never got above 40F degrees, it's usually safe to refreeze it.

thats +3degrees above frezzing.
