This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
First, I would like to begin by saying that I did not experience Sleep Paralysis.
A person that I work with told me today that he thinks that he experienced Sleep Paralysis last night.
He also told me that this was his second time.
He is certain that he wasn't dreaming when it happened.
He said that it felt like someone, or something was pushing against his chest, feeling like what ever was pushing on him, was pushing through his chest. It was like he was being pushed into his mattress. It was that much pressure.
I asked him if he opened his eyes to see who, or what was pushing on him like that, and he told me that he didn't open his eyes because he was afraid to do that. Afraid of what he might see, if he opened them.

I welcome anyone who has experienced the same thing.
He is waiting for some answers to help him understand what happened to him. I told him that I would go to my favorite forum site, and do my best to help find some answers for him, so that he can hopefully keep it from happening to himself again, in the future.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
This is nothing to be alarmed by. It happens commonly among people. Sleep paralysis is basically your body falling asleep faster than your mind falls asleep. When your sleep, you dont feel anything right, cuz your mind is at rest and so is your body, but sometimes your body goes at rest first and your mind just didnt have enough time to catch up, so sleep paralysis happens. This also ties in with something called astral projection or lucid dreaming, i wont go into serious detail about the 2 but i'll say this, but they tie in, yu can google the terms. This happens to me often and doesnt alarm me as much as it use to but still there are times when it hits me and i do become a but alarmed and freaked out. It ususally comes from being tired or overly tired, and sometimes can happen even if your not too tired. Its really a myster to what is really going on once this happens but its nothing to be scared of, it wont kill you. Its just wierd. I use to intentionally trigger this when i was studying astral projection, it involves deep meditation and can be a tedious task to try to trigger intentionally.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
I started experiencing it when i was about 19 through to about 22 (24 now). I was doing my share of mushrooms at the time figured that was what induced it. Read a lot about it and that the brain gives off chemicals so you don't act out dreams, and that you wake up while your still in a dream like state. But even reading about the science end of it it most definitely feels as something is there watching you filled with malice and just this evil presence. It almost feels that gravity is out of control and holding to your bed but as i said it feels like there's something or someone there with you almost tormenting you lol but whatever i don't have them anymore but goddamn they're terrifying.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
I've experienced it a few times. It's basically when the body is in deep sleep but the mind wakes up separately from the normal process.

When the body is experiencing the Theta state (I could be wrong there) you are immobilized so you don't go about sleep walking. Likewise not getting the paralysis can induce sleepwalking.

It's just a sleeping disorder. No spirits or succubus trying to steal his breath.

On a side note - it is the state you wish to achieve if you want to astrally project.

You can induce sleep paralysis on your own terms by practicing certain techniques.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
I am a cancer survivor. I was actually given a terminal diagnosis with chronic pain. I was on massive amounts of pain meds for years, as I fought to live.

When the threat of death passed, there was an obvious need for me to be weaned from the pain meds. I wanted them out of my body so bad that I often made reductions in the dosage on my own. That is when I began to have similar experiences to what you are describing.

My doctor told me that it was caused by mild seizures. A seizure in the brain causing the pressure on my chest seemed to render him without an explanation; at least, I never got a response from him when I questioned him about it.

Strangely enough, I completed my education, as I was fighting for my life. I have very intense passion about the spiritual aspects of our physical existence. I know we are spiritual beings first. Things happen in our body, as a result of things that happen in our spirit, and vice versa.

I personally believe there was more to what I experienced, like this. However, I would suggest that your friend see a doctor to see if there could be a cause for him to be having mild seizures.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
ive been having strange dreams. All seeing eye looking at me form the top of the pyramid, lions at the gate, flying sting rays. all of these dreams start in a wold that looks like MC eshers Geometric staircase drawing.

I once felt like my arms and legs were vibrating. I looked to my side and I swear there was a bug. he was friendly though. he was telling me that "this" had to be done.

the most recent though was the old hag. my experience with her was different. she wasnt sitting on me suffocating me. she was behind me with her hand on my forehead as if she was doing some ceremony. with her was a little creature. Demonic in some ways but could have been something else. I fought them away psychically. I really want to explore the astral without being raped or taken over by demons.

Has anyone let the ritual take place with the old hag? i wonder what would happen if i dont fight it. are they trying to help us move to the astral?

anywho. i really want to learn more about this.

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
I have epilepsy and its only one of the few side effects of seizures. My technical diagnosis is 'partial/complex temporal lobe seizures'. However my neurologist suspects I have several forms which manifest in sleep paralysis, de javu experiences and absence and of course convulsive seizures.

When I was a kid (early teens) I had night terrors followed by episodes of sleep paralysis. Tonic colonic seizures (drop the the floor fits) didn't manifest until I was 31. Between these two periods I had other 'wonky' stuff going on that in retrospect clearly denotes a worsening condition.

Today there are many tests they can perform to find the root cause of his disorder. Since its just starting its a 'new' disorder and should be treated as such. He needs to see his General Practitioner (Primary Care Physician) and get referred to both a sleep study and a neurologist.

Sleep study will rule out other sleep disorders which could be missed by him but be manifesting in sleep paralysis. If he has a spouse/bed partner perhaps they can fill in more about his sleeping habits.

There is sleep apnea which leads to fitful un-restful sleeping that can later (due to lack of rest) manifest sleep paralysis and even night terrors.

If he stops breathing (literally his diaphragm and lungs stop moving, not a nasal/throat blockage) it could be indicative of a form of epilepsy or conversely a form of narcolepsy. I still stop breathing when I sleep, my lungs stop automatically taking up air (its not due to a blockage of the throat). On nights that I have lots of these stop breathing episodes I often wake up unable to move.

Mind when we sleep the body goes into a form of paralysis. We dream we are moving, but the brain does not send signals to the rest of the body. So we can dream we are running, but our legs do not move. Often enough folk 'wake up' and this self induced paralysis is still going on even though the person is no longer dreaming.

If he has been under more stress lately, it is possible he is not sleeping properly and is not dreaming deeply enough. A sleep study will get to the bottom of any sleeping disorder.

If its epilepsy or other neurological disorder, getting it discovered and attended to early is best.

Things like epilepsy can continue to worsen if left unchecked. So he may not be falling on the floor and convulsing today... but could end up with those types of seizures if he has epilepsy and its untreated.

I also had the pressure on the chest like something was sitting there.

I also had the feeling of being hit in the head with a blunt object - literal I could hear a 'whack' and get a bright flash of light in my vision followed by a short period of migraine pain.

Wait until he can open his eyes and its too dark to make out anything perfectly, the shadows take on sinister appearances that tied into the dread and fear of not being able to move.

Suffocation (like something is on your face) is also common.

Then there are the attempts to scream... you try to scream but can't open your mouth or make a noise. Its even worse if you are laying on your side and can see your bed partner sleeping next to you and your attempting to scream for help.....

the best is, to shout loud this beast away! you have to punch it!
that is the method for right aversion to it!
than, because you want to make a motion, your body moves a littel bit,
and so you awake - and the black something clear away!
your friend should not be frightened - when he catch sight of or feel it, just punch it!

Re: This Thread Is For Anyone Who Has Experienced, Or Knows About Sleep Paralysis
This is a very scary experience. I told my doctor about it and he knew that I was in an abusive marriage and had a high pressure job. He told me because I was so tense most of the time that when I started to go to sleep and let my body relax, my brain said "NO!" and everything was paralyzed, and back into that frozen, unmovable state. I divorced, this was most of my stress, my life got less stressful and I have not had this happen to me in years!!! Good luck.
If you break my wings, I will just find a cloud and learn to fly again. The Lord will catch you when you fall or teach you to fly! May the footprints I leave lead you to BELIEVE.

It's nothing at all. It happened to me a few times, I actually want it to happen again since I don't fear the experience anymore. It does feel creepy and scary since it's not something that is normal but it's nothing.

The feeling of a presence is just you being scared at the experience, but there really aren't any ghost and spirits in this world. He was just scared, tell him to go back to sleep and everything would be alright OR he can try to control it and do FUN stuff with it, but he'll probably get even more scared. You need to be experience and lose all fear for the unknown, it really is a wonderful experience once you learn how to stop fearing.

There is nothing to fear in this world, there really isn't.
