Enaid User ID: 515273 United States 07/24/2010 11:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No previous problems?? Mine has a real hard to cure infection in one ear. Vet said DO NOT use that cleaner in that ear. I use a special clnr for bad ear. I use epi in his other ear. No prob. Vet said it is also good for mild yeast. Sorry about yr puppy. Can rinse the ear w/ warm water. Last Edited by Enaid on 07/24/2010 11:23 PM Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Quit blaming others for your bad choices. Consequences happen. :enaid11: |

Maybe he just had an allergic reaction. I don't want to suggest anything and have that make the prob worse. Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Quit blaming others for your bad choices. He had some redness and after I used the solution things went crazy. I feel so bad. |

Maybe take a cotton ball, soak in water and gently wipe. Mine would fight it - I know mine. Quoting: EnaidYour pup needs hugs. Thank You. I have cleaned them as best I could. I think I am going to give him an asprin for pain. Do you think Benadryl might be better to take swelling down? |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 985294 United States 07/24/2010 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | my dog get infections regularly. right at first when you use the cleanser or medicine they get really bright red then it fades away quickly the next day. Quoting: OVRANALYZEThe redness has gotten worse in the last three days. That is why I think it's and infection and/or an alegric reaction. |
Enaid User ID: 515273 United States 07/24/2010 11:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Benedryl is good for itches and allergic reactions - IMHO When my dog is bugged excessively by allergies, I give him some. Dosage -- google I'm going to take mine to doggy dermatologist. ( oh great - another bill!) cuz labs have allergies and he had a tough ear bug. Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Xytx User ID: 969477 United States 07/25/2010 12:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Used in on my dog. Has anyone ever had an adverse reaction to this cleanser on their dog? My dog's ears are all red and painfull. The vet said that he had no infection when he first went in and to use this to clean the ears. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 985294Any advice? My dog has food allergies and her (big) ears get really itchy and have a yeasty smell if she eats anything other than her prescription dog food. The vet's given us a number of ear wash solutions, but the best thing I've found so far is half water, half white vinegar. I mix it in a squirt bottle and squit it right into her ear canal - enough to make it overflow a little. (Though I have a really large dog - if you have a small breed, you might need to use an eye dropper or something.) Then I gently swab out the excess with a cotton ball. If her ear canal seems really inflammed, swollen, or he/she has open cuts on his ear flap(s), you can try soaking a cotton ball in the vinegar solution first, then cleaning her ears with the wet cotton ball to reduce stinging. Really, regular old vinegar works as well or better than any of the prescription ear wash stuff. |

General Nuisance User ID: 989927 United States 07/25/2010 12:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey, been grooming dogs for 35 years. Showing Airedale Terrrier and Welsh Terriers for 25 year. Currently have a Brussells Griffon, Irish wolfhound, Labradoodle and 4 assorted mix breeds. Ears are one of the biggest problems we groomers deal with. several options. One is something called blue lotion or blue power/powder, Google it if you don't believe me. here's the recipe and you can get this stuff in the otc drug section of HEB, Wally world, Pharmacies etc 16 ounces isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 16 drops gentian violet 2 tablespoons Boric Acid powder. You can cut this to 8,8 and 1 ratio . Use a bottle with a cone tip ( like a Miss clariol hair coloring bottle or old honey bear or mustard bottle. You will get a pale blue/purple solution. Take the dog outside, this stuff stains a little. Shake it up as the boric acid settles. ( Will clean off with pure rubbing alcohol.) Squirt it in the ears and let him shake out the excess. Use it 2x per day for a week then 1x per day for another week then once a week and/or at bath time. Baths should be limited to once a week and preferably only twice a month. One of my clients uses eye lash glue and ribbons on her cocker spaniels. Glues the ribbons to the tips of the dogs ears and ties them up behind the dog's head at night. Seems to work. 3rd option is baby powder or corn starch. Just a little bit. Don't drown the inner ear in powder. Also makes the dog smell good. 4th option is BNP Bacitracin/Neomycin/Polymycin or a tube of just one of these will soothe ears. The heat of the ear will make it melt quickly. It seals out the moisture that feeds the bacteria. Listerine works well for hot spots not ears. I keep it in a spray mister for scratches, cuts, raw spots. I know, I know, TMI G. Nuisance |

Taniasierra User ID: 42296330 Australia 04/15/2014 06:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My puppy had a horrible allergic reaction to this product. His ears got swollen minutes after it was applied. He was on terrible pain, he didn't stop shaking his head. He is a little chihuahua and his ears are normally up, after the allergic reaction they came down, got red and hot. His cheeks got swollen too and run under the coach and didn't allowed me to even get near to him. Thankfully the vet got here in 20 min and gave him a shot of steroids and within an our he got back to normal. Be careful don't use this product. |
