These public ratings mean nothing. Nobody with any intelligence believes in them anyway. Big investors with gazillions are not that stupid, nor are Sovereign fund managers. It's more of a geopolitically-inspired honor spat between Sovereigns, which is completely misread by the millions of free-floating idiot investors out there that actually believe in manufactured statistics - from any and all governments.

If China brings down the US financially they bring down China as well. The Chi-coms might be willing to put their people through a crash in order to bring the USA down with a gamble that China will recover and the US won't.

Unlike the US government, the Chi-coms are self interested, long term planners so I doubt their threats to the US economy are real. They want to control the US - not crash the worlds' economies.

Think what you can do for yourself at a grassroots level in response to whatever might happen to your circumstances as a result of any of several large scale DOOM scenarios.

For instance---"skyrocketing utility bills", runaway inflation, food shortages etc.

Store food, get a really good water filter--maybe a Berkey,
develop multiple income streams--moonlight, start a small business on the side, buy & sell stuff at yard sales, whatever, learn a survival skill that might be useful when TSHTF preferably one you can use now for bartering or extra cash. Acquire some silver. Learn something about natural medicine and nutrition to stay healthy so you can better cope with whatever happens. Expand your circle of friends and acquaintances--be careful to include only those who you feel are trustworthy people.

I guess China has not realized yet they could lose control of the Panama Canal, overnight.

China "pays" for our standard of living. Not only by buying our debt giving our dollar legitimacy, but by shipping products made with commodities out, in exchange for the same money. They are wising up to the shell game, and they are exiting as fast as they can, while still keeping their own interests in mind.

One of the comments on the article stated the USA has companies worth trillions. That is true, but what percentage of those companies profits came abroad? And what percentage of those profits depend on a thriving economy? Google's domestic ad sales will plummet once austerity is pronounced.



What percentage of the Dow 30's earnings are made abroad? The leading indicator of our nations economy is making 40% profit overseas. With rampant unemployment, and the Feds fiscal supremacy in doubt, it looks grim.

China is not the largest creditor of the USA by far.

In the long run this will be a good thing for America. Yeah, it will be tough, real tough for a while.

But it's about time America's manufacturing base returned to America, and not communist China. Then Americans won't have to answer to any communist country.
