I think it's awesome.

This is the time Zonies to get your kids in gun classes. Gun education is very very very important no matter what your state laws are. Kids need to be familiar with guns, know the real damage they can do, and know what to do if they encounter a gun. When I first moved here and took my kids (baby and a toddler at the time) to their new pediatrician he handed me a flyer for gun safety classes for kids. I was blown away at first, I was very anti-gun at the time...but over the years it has made sense to me that they are familiar and know the rules.

Firearm safety is very important!

I agree (for a change)! Highly important. Professional training is a must. Not only will it improve your chances of surviving a violent encounter, it will embed the general safety protocols into your habits.

...how did we all get by back in the old days...horse and carriage days...kids those days knew what could be done with a gun...I'm betting they may have used them as well. It was common.

I also have to say...

I didn't like Brewer at first but that woman is inspirational to me now in the midst of all this BS we have going on. She's giving us our own protection come hell or high water. That's freedom baby.

Its disconcerting, said Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead. The fact that anyone can walk around and carry a gun without training is disconcerting. We dont let our police officers walk around with a gun without training. Some people will start shoving a gun down their pants and shoot themselves.

Oh yes, we have to protect all the morans out there from shooting themselves.

I was not formally trained until I was 21 years old. Before that my experience was like yours. Common sense is a god part of gun training. But think about it if everybody who can legally own a weapon can carry one, I'd really want most folks to have at least a little training. Especially people who mouth off like you just did in opposition to training. There is a serious lack of common sense in the world today. Just look at your average 21 year old today. No job no responsibility, huge callouses on his hands from playing Xbox all day....disgusting.

Arizona to allow concealed carry without permit

[link to www.informationliberation.com]

In less than a week, Arizona residents will be allowed to carry a gun in their pocket or purse without needing paperwork to do so.

Senate Bill 1108, which allows people to carry concealed guns with no permit or safety training, takes effect on July 29, the same day controversial immigration legislation is scheduled to begin enforcement. It makes Arizona the third state behind Alaska and Vermont, all supportive of gun rights, to enact a law that raises concerns for law enforcement.

Its disconcerting, said Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead. The fact that anyone can walk around and carry a gun without training is disconcerting. We dont let our police officers walk around with a gun without training. Some people will start shoving a gun down their pants and shoot themselves.

SB 1108, sponsored by Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, was signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer on April 16. People can carry guns without a permit, but still will not be allowed to take a gun into a bar or restaurant without one, as most such establishments prohibit them anyway.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 862727

I don't get the Mesa Police Chief...the crooks, criminals, drug dealers, etc., all carry concealed weapons. It seems the cry babies go after the honest citizens and their right to defend themselvs. The criminal element will never abide by the law. Anyway, don't you still need to show ID and have a background check in order to purchase a handgun? The criminals don't do that, they steal them.
