Arizona to allow concealed carry without permit | |

I don't have an issue with people carrying legally, but just letting anyone carry without any sort of checks is not a good idea. If you don't have an issue with people carrying legally, then you won't have everyone carrying concealed in Arizona - IT'S COMPLETELY LEGAL! With zero checks on who is carrying so basically even criminals can carry legally and what happens when bar fights turn into gun fights. I have to wonder anymore about the definition of "criminal" with the way the police are encouraged to arrest people. I am supposedly a "criminal" for a crime for which I was arrested but NEVER convicted. I can not own a gun forever now by virtue of being charged with a crime but not found guilty. I may be a single mom of two children not allowed to protect my family because of this stupid law. The real criminals carry guns and kill people. The ones who can't get them are probably the ones who wouldn't use them to kill people anyway. |

Well try buying one having had even an ARREST, with no conviction. Trust me. Sen. Lautenberg introduced the law. Here's part of the wiki description: "Therefore, if a person was represented by counsel, waived that right, AND, the person was entitled to a trial by jury, but also waived that right, the person shall not be considered to have been convicted if the conviction was expunged or set aside or had his civil rights (to bear arms) restored, UNLESS the further order of the court permanently revokes that right." IOW, if a person is wrongfully arrested for battery, accepts a plea bargain for disturbing the peace, withheld judgement, and gets the charge "dismissed", then they will STILL not be able to ever own a gun. Like Charles Dickens said, the law is an ass. Now you know why I'm leaving Amerika. |

If you pleaded "No lo contendre" or some such shit, then you might be right, but if you aren't totally sure... New Mexico as a border state with Mexico should be doing the same but instead the legislature is voting on bills that will require background checks (eventually leading to universal checks and then registration), and assault weapon bans. Our governor is supposedly pro gun but said she'd sign the bills if they get to her desk...Sucks |
