Who are the 144000?

The 144.000 are those into whom the light of god was placed, they volunteered aeons ago to look after the light of god and it was separated into 144.000 pieces and placed in the secret sacred place of their hearts.
The light of god has been burning on their altars ever since.
Evil cannot find these people and it can only know them if they know themselves that they carry the light.
Who are they, i dont know but i think they will all have one thing in common, something that will have happened to all of them at some point in their life.
Anybody else guess what that is?.
