Just 2 days ago I was introduced to the healing benefits of Manuka Honey from New Zealand.

The grocery clerk suggested it (5+) as a sore throat cure.

Since then I've been reading about it and am now determined to buy a 15+ grade for natural healing : )

Have been having a bit of trouble with my blood pressure...

Dr Oz yesterday - recommended Potassium for levelling out the blood pressure. Just did some research and it seems none of us get enough Potassium in our diet.-- It is good for the adrenals,kidneys, heart muscles tissue and lots of other organs. Potassium is 100% missing in most people as they dont eat enough fruits and vegetables. I note that apples and bananas have a high percentage of potassium in them also spinach - beans and figs....

SALT is a BIG NO NO ---- Adding salt to the diet can elevate blood pressure - We have a lot of salt in our food already...

Study of the link between iodine deficiency and ADHD link

Over a period of almost 10 yr, we carried out a prospective study of the neuropsychological development of the offspring of 16 women from a moderately iodine-deficient area (area A) and of 11 control women from a marginally iodine-sufficient area (area B) whose thyroid function had been monitored during early gestation. Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was diagnosed in 11 of 16 area A children (68.7%) but in none from area B. Total intelligence quotient score was lower in area A than in area B children (92.1 +/- 7.8 vs. 110 +/- 10) and in ADHD children when compared with both non-ADHD children from the same area and control children (88.0 +/- 6.9 vs. 99.0 +/- 2.0 and 110 +/- 10, respectively). Seven of 11 ADHD children (63.6%) were born to the seven of eight area A mothers who became hypothyroxinemic at early gestation, whereas only one of five non-ADHD children was born to a woman who was hypothyroxinemic at 20 wk of gestation. So far, a similar prevalence of ADHD has been reported only in children with generalized resistance to thyroid hormones. This might suggest a common ADHD pathogenetic mechanism consisting either of reduced sensitivity of the nuclear receptors to thyroid hormone (generalized resistance to thyroid hormones) or reduced availability of intracellular T3 for nuclear receptor binding. The latter would be the ultimate consequence of maternal hypothyroxinemia (due to iodine deficiency), resulting in a critical reduction of the source of the intracellular T3 available to the developing fetal brain.

Interesting connection to iodine deficiency and ADHD --It is beginning to nlook like Iodine is connected to many health issues. It used to be added to bread but now you can only get it by eating fish, eggs, milk and asparagus seaweed products. Or taking a synthetic hormone. Some researchers are making claims that iodine deficiency can be linked to cancers of the prostrate, breast etc. This earlier extract is from a reserch program conducted in Spain I will post more results.....

During the break I picked up something on TV that fits our category of natural medicines.

They call it over here - "Purple carrots"... They are purple coloured carrots that are said to contain marvellous healing properties. The pharmacies - (over here in West Australia) carry the juice .. You take 20 mls in 120 mls of water. The colour is a deep indigo - it lowers cholesterol -has huge amounts of anti-oxidants and one fellow swears it is keeping his cancer in remission. Take one glass a day -- I have started to take it for my cholesterol and blood pressure problems. We will see what happens.. and I will report in.

Now the second natural remedy that i wrote about previously - The PAW PAW mans ointment- is now being used by my neighbour for the terrible pain she suffers from arthritis. She siad there has been an amazing lessening of pain. I will see if I can bring him up on google. The ointment is probably available on the net...

Just googled Tom McArthur - the Paw Paw man - and yes he has a site. Go to the NEWS not testimonials and see for your self....It seems miraculous. They call it magic.... Treatments still have to pass scientific tests... YEARS OF TRIAL AND ERROR BUT SCIENCE IS DRAGGING ITS HEELS OF COURSE!!!

Have a sinus infection these past few days. I do get this on a regular basis. Makes me dizzy as it affects my inner ear. Anyone else have allergies? I am particularly susceptible to the Easterly winds when they come over Perth from off the Nullabor desert. Carry all kinds of pollens etc.

Dr Oz is visiting Australia with his famly... I like his show - He advises eating the brightly coloured vegies - they are full of anti-oxidants. Get 7-8 hours sleep was another tip - sleep is a time for healing - - there were a list of things but being Dr Oz and telling it like it is - his last tip was a bit of a laugh... - The last thing he advised was to check your stool every day. I believe he has suffered colon cancer recently or had a scare - not sure .....

Olive Leaf Juice ia another natural health medicine. It has been used in the Mediteranean countries for decades. Lowers cholesterol, blood pressure and is a heart strengthener...It is obtainable at health food stores....

Google the OoO (oil of oregano)... can be purchased quite reasonably online including shipping. And one 8 oz bottle lasts for a long time, since it must be diluted with virgin cold press olive oil for usage.

I had my thyroid removed two decades ago so I have had a lot of time to do research. Presently I purchase from the bodybuiler.com website "T-100" manufactured by AOR. I also have a basal thermometer and take my temperature same time in the morning.

I have also used Standard Process' "Symplex" formula, but prefer T-100 because it from New Zealand cows and smells a lot better than the Symplex.

I am stocking up on it -- it really works for me. My hubbie also started taking it even though he had no signs of needing it, but he now drinks less coffee and reduced his ephedra-based thermogenics to kick start his morning :-)

Howevere, Standard Process sells "Prolamine" which is excellent for pumping the cells receptors up with iodine, instead of chlorine or fluorides.

We also shifted over to relying more upon blue green algae and the body is de-toxing nicely. Feel much more mentally alert.

It is so prevalent now - the thyroid thing. Yesterday my young hair- dresser told me she was going to get a blood test and is aking the Dr to check for everything.

She has lost a lot of weight quite quickly and she does not feel like eating .. can only eat a mouthful of a sandwhich and feels full.

I did note that she was so white skinned... thought to myself Im guessing she works inside all day drives from the country up to the city - not much exposure to the sun

Just googled Vitamin D deficiency. Its quite extrordinary what the lack of this vitamin does cause.

Apart from brittle bones and rickets,it also causes diabetes, hypertension, back aches, osteoarthritis, overeating as the body tries to get more Vit D from food, tiredness. etc

It is found in egg yolks, fish -fatty fish, milk has it added - margarine. But Im thinking that we dont get enough of this essential vitamin. I was taking a huge dosage but like all pill popping one gets tired of it and lets it slide - Must resume and will keep in touch with the young lady - to see what the Dr discovered.

My God!! Just had a bit of a wake-up call - Electric explosions on front of house - The loudness of the explosions and the flashes of electricity as it hit the paved driveways was amazing. Most have the lights out.

A few nights back, two men on a TV program here in W.A, were trying to prove that Naturopathic remedies were just BUNK.... They each consumed 400 tablets each of a pill to to prove the tablets had no effect whatsoever. I cant recall what the pill was meant to relieve... but the idea of naturopathic remedies I believe is that they work on a different level to pills which work on the physical body. . in that they mirror the healing properties of the body -- Very minute solutions are watered down to an infintessimal amount. Can someone give the correct healing solution to the naturopathic healing techniques. Im not sure how it works myself.....

People are still reading so will carry on... I will google Naturopathy myself and learn how it works...

We watched something last night - quite informative - Not really on topic but I believe it may be pointing the way we might have go in the future. The story was about a family living off $20.00 a week - They had earlier in life experimented with living off what they could produce from their suburban block of land. Moved to the country and set up a self sufficient style of living. Never bought milk, vegetables or eggs. Grew own food - had goats for milk and hens for meat and eggs. They did buy some staples but were able to cut out many high priced foods.

It was hard work - and the milking of the goats was a chore - Feeding all the animals also was time consuming.

Going back to the land is not an easy way to live but very fulfilling.
My advice is be close to a small town where you can supplement some of your dietary requirements and near medical fscilites.

It is a trial and error experiment at first. I have tossed the idea around for a decade. Read my book - and see what you think about my garden idea.

Homeopathic remedies... Just had a long talk with the pharmacist / re this healing modality _ The lady was well versed in this and she has used it herself with good results. The idea is that giving infintessimal amounts of a substance that is causing a problem with your health - the body ITSELF REACTS AND BEGINS A CURE THAT THEN HEALS ALL ASPECTS OF THE CONDITION YOU ARE SUFFERING from.

She gave as an example - say you were suffering from a sinus condition caused by cat hair. By giving a tiny, tiny amount of cat hair as a drop (I guess it would be in liquid form) solution - the body begins to set up a kind of anti body that begins to react and try to heal this foreign substance - and by doing this healing it in turn heals the whole sinus problem -- Does that make sense -- Maybe someone can explain it more clearly.....

Had a thyroidectomy when 17 and unfortunately took synthroid and suffered the known side effects.
