If you want to dry them, thread them on a string with a sewing needle and hang them up so they air-dry. If you want to use them to cook with. wear the gloves, cut off the tops, remove ribs and all seeds. Chop them up very finely and you can use them in a sauce or however you like. But wear rubber gloves so the oils do not burn you! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 7092995 United States 01/15/2012 06:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I make my own hotsauce - better than store bought ! 2 cups of peppers (cut the stem cap off) 1 8 oz can of tomato sauce 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1 cup of water 1 teaspoon salt (wear gloves when handling peppers - trust me on this one) Put all ingredients in a pot on the stove and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 30 min. Pour mixture into a blender (or food processor) and puree until smooth. Strain mixture through a strainer to remove pulp (save the pulp). Place strained mixture into a bottle or jar and refrigerate (I use empty Worcestershire sauce bottles). Put the pulp in a ziplock baggie an freeze - use the next time you want to make a spicy salsa or chili. |

Burt Gummer User ID: 7702124 United States 01/15/2012 06:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so I just picked three ripened habanero peppers off of my habanero pepper plant. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 870032 but I have no idea what to do with them. I used crushed red pepper alot in various recipes and as a condiment on other foods. how can I dry and crush habanero peppers? anyone have any other suggestions on what to do with them? Waaaaaaaaaay too hot to be useful for everyday cooking. IMO....grind them up to fine dust, get and add them to a hand held spray bottle, add some vegetable oil, and a small amount of liquid dish soap.....add some water..... ...and now you you have animal repellent for your garden veggies for next season.
