Anonymous Coward User ID: 1052956 Canada 07/30/2010 12:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder how well it stands up to a .50 cal round at 300 yards Don't think you'll have a chance to try it out if it had a GE M134 MiniGun strapped on that bad boy. Why would you stand in range of a minigun??? :smlaugh: It doesn't have the range of a .50 cal....not even close. It's 7.62 x 51 versus .50 caliber BMG. So again I say....I wonder how it likes .50 cal rounds. Isnt the world record sniper shot made by a Canadian Sniper using a .50 ? I cant remember. If I'm correct, I think his name is John Connor too ! (lol) Ya!! A newfie no less!! 2.4 KM. Issues with army..hung to dry..Now pipefitter (like me) in Alberta! A new project partly funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ( DARPA) called the Nano Aerial Vehicle (NAV) program aims to develop an extremely small, ultra-lightweight aerial vehicle for urban military missions that can fly both indoors and outdoors and that is capable of climbing and descending vertically as well as flying sideways left and right. DARPA says the NAV program pushes the limits of aerodynamic and power conversion efficiency, endurance and maneuverability for very small air vehicle systems. [link to www.msnbc.msn.com] |

Let me put it like this: Take the unemployment-rate of today and wait for it to quadruple when these robots are developed in such a way it could easily take over (easy) production jobs. Cheaper to use under payed humans. The fact is that we have had technology that could take over the roll of people in manufacturing and many service positions for decades, it just hasn't been cost effective. As long as there are slaves to fill the rolls, there will not be machines doing the work. Overpopulation at work, but still true. |

Quoting: BRIEF AND TO THE POINTEvery new invention is taken by piece of shit humans and tested for killing other humans. So it looks like this thing could end up being used for killing humans in the future. And that dude will be paid hefty sums if it turns out his new invention is any good at it. Good deal! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69144Isn't it a damn sad shame that nobody thinks to use these for something positive -- helping people who are brain-damaged and/or paralyzed. Cleaning up toxins so humans won't be exposed. Performing in a circus so the animals can be released to the wild. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1006414 United States 07/30/2010 05:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Other than a kids toy, what is it good for? Quoting: BRIEF AND TO THE POINTThe basics for an automated soldier that AUTOMATICALLY KILLS human beings efficiently and without remorse. Once they get them designed and programed it isn't that hard to start cranking them out of a production line by the hundreds of thousands. If they are upgradable in the field then they can be reprogramed as they learn what their weaknesses are in actual combat situations until they can be darn hard to kill off. Note how with high tech body armour and weaponry how our casualties have dropped dramatically in the field in Afghanistan and Iraq compared to Vietnam, and particularly compared to WW2. This is just an example how a scientific approach to warfare can change the dynamics of how hard it is to stop a killing machine once it gets going. (note most of our casualties are being caused by bombs NOT by direct weapons fire since our body armour is keeping most weapons fire from killing our soldiers) |

You are absolutely right. That's why our current credit/money system can't survive. We'll starve to death trying to feed ourselves using monetary credits that we earn through employment. |

Imagine that thing with a .50 Cal. mounted on it and coming through the brush after you? You win. That's the creepiest for a lot of reasons. It's scary looking and powerful and probably will be close to unstoppable unless you have heavy weapondry. Image it being wrapped in kevlar or some weird super metal blend. I can see it being a great help in war, as long you are on the side that controls that thing. |
