Re: My wife wants to name our soon-to-be-born son "Eric"...I want him named "Mason"...
I don't like either name, to be honest. Mason reminds me of freemason or the jar. Eric doesn't flow, and don't like the hard 'c' ick sound. You can make a list of all your favorite names and maybe find a completely different one. Boys names are harder than girls I think, I hope you find one you both like. I wouldn't want to pick a name that my husband didn't like, so hopefully your wife feels the same.

For our son, we each made a list, and I didn't like his top pick and he didn't like my top pick so we both picked our second best choice. I don't even remember what name was my top anymore, but I ended up liking the second choice better. It ended up being the perfect name for my son.

Blessings to you and congratulations!
fërú.

I'll let you folks decide.

Erick or Mason for my son to be born in 12 days or so.

I don't care for either, tbh but if I had to chose between the 2, I would go for Eric.

The best way to tell is the old fashioned tried and true method.

Write down your options for full names. First, middle and last on a piece of paper.

Then both you and your wife should very quietly walk outside your back door at about 5-6 pm in the evening, taking the paper with you. Take the first name off of the list and have your wife yell:

"Firstname Middlename Lastname!!! Time for dinner!!!!!"

If no one yells at you, comes running or tosses a shoe at you then you you have a contender.

You would be surprised how the sound of a name changes when Mom is calling you back in the house and means business.

Edited to add:

This method helped my Father convince my mother that
Sabrina Eugina (brie for short)would NOT be in my best interest and that no child should have the same name or nick name as a cheese.

I too think of Mason jars or Mason-Dixon and girls as well as boys. TOOO common.

Old is the new NEW. Eric is really strong. Someone mentioned Merrick. or Meric..Jason isn't James, but nice.

All the Masons in my daughter's class, btw, are female.

All the Masons in central Texas are boys. It is not considered a female name here. Most of the boys are cowboy types.

I like Eric.

Erick or Mason for my son to be born in 12 days or so.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1054105

...........Personally, I dislike both names!!! the best thing to do is to google 'numerology' there are many sites that will give you a FREE numerological reading of any name........simply enter each first name, middle name and your last name......perhaps by reading the type of things each name means will help you choose the really right one!!..don't forget middle names are important too, as well as the initials....just a thought......it sure couldn't hurt, and it's free.....also, if you want a very detailed report, those are available too, for a small fee...and usually emailed to you in a few hours at most......Think about it!!!! cool2
