YEAH, The real Indiana Jones spirit: British guy walks the entire length of the Amazon River.
This guy, is walking the full length of Amazon River. I assume he's doing this, not so far of the river bank, 'cause obviously the Amazon is a very deep and dangerous river, with piranha carnivorous fishes, up-in-the-urethra candiru fishes, electric eels, alligators, poisonous bugs, lots of snakes including giant anacondas and wild aboriginal tribes that don't like much of white people breaking the forest...

Posting information on your blog and twitter, Ed Stafford wants to draw the attention of the international community

A British man is little more than a week to complete a walk of nearly two and a half years that have traveled on foot, the trajectory of the Amazon River from source to mouth.

Ed Stafford, 34, of Mowsley in Leicesteshire in central England, began his journey of 9500 km on April 2, 2008 at Mount Mismi, Peru, and expects to complete next August 9, at coast of Pará. "Everyone told me it was impossible, and it made me want to prove them wrong," said former British army captain, who helped the UN mission in Afghanistan and urged the BBC to produce documentaries about environment.
The trip aims to draw international attention to Amazon. The adventure may be accompanied by the Walking the Amazon blog, Ed updates through a latpop, and an internet connection via satellite, and the microblogging service Twitter. In his last post, as Ed told his traveling companion killed a snake three feet and body yellowish who attacked the pair when they were trying to find in the forest.
In other posts, reported encounters with electric eels, alligators, giant ants and scorpions, spoke of hours making his way through the vegetation cutting, told how he contracted leishmaniasis and, as might be expected, noted the curiosity that generated in the villages where he passed . "Lift every day and wearing wet clothes is difficult. The challenge, both mentally and physically, is the most tiring. I'm very humble about how much I had to rely on other people and I benefited immensely from the generosity of the people I met along the way" he wrote.
These meetings, the most enduring has been with the Peruvian Gadial Sanchez Rivera-Cho - who has since become inseparable partner of Ed in the adventure. The two met when the British took five months longer walk - it was not long, Cho said, that they realize, that his partner would go to the end of the journey. "I started walking with Ed at the beginning because I felt a responsibility to try to help this crazy in a very dangerous area, with drug dealers and warring tribes," he said.
"As time passed, I began to enjoy the simple life and we became good friends." A little less than a week to complete the adventure, and Ed Cho already left the area of forest paths and expect to win on the road until you reach the capital of Pará, Belém
"We're not complaining," blogged the British. "That's enough forest for But that reported by the British, nor the dangers thus no longer exist. Only, instead of wild animals and the mysteries of the forest, the risk is human: near the river Tocantins, almost been hit by a motorcyclist who gave the impression of being drunk and driving his motorcycle in the dark and at high speed.
