2) how did you make contact with the people or group that run the timetravel place. What was the name of that group.

3)in keeping with your story, please can you describe how people the re-building efforst looked like i.e. infrastracture, energy and comms, buildings etc

4)what was the economic system like that you found after returning to boulder

I can think of two ways. One costly and one not. Costly way: many stores sell VISA or AMEX "Gift Cards" in specific denominations. These are like a "load once" credit card. You buy them for cash, plus a small fee in addition to the face value. Then you use the account number until the money in the card is exhausted. For online, or in person shopping they're fine. You can also get "be my guest" service cards from AMEX direct (Amex is verbal shorthand for American Express Card Services) and they offer a "pre-loaded, re-loadable card. You pay a $35 fee and send them the amount you want on the card. I think the minimum is $500 and the max is $5000 (but I could be mistaken on the max.) They will issue the card in whatever name you wish, but they mail the card to you. You activate it with a phone call when you get it. Give it to your recipient (this case to yourself) and you now have a working Amex card until it runs out of money. You can reload it with checks, bank account debit, and maybe a few other ways as well. The card is great if you have a teenager going to Europe for a few weeks and you want them to have $$'s available but not unlimited. If they get into trouble, loose the card, or just tap it out, you can refill it over the phone from your bank or your own Amex Credit card account (if you have one). I gave my daughter ten of these in $2000 increments when she went to college, so she could furnish her place, buy clothes, and have spending money without an unlimited pipeline into my credit card. Worked great until American Express gave her a Gold Charge Card of her own! First month she wracked it to $4000 and thought it could be paid like a credit card. NOPE. This is a CHARGE CARD. Pay in full every thirty days ONLY! Once I bailed her out from that, and she understood how it works, now she only uses it for purchases she can truly afford to pay off at the end of the month.

The other option is Postal Money Orders. These work, but you need to contact who you're doing business with and see if they'll take them, how to get them mailed to the right department and how to mark on the money order what it is for. While they're useful for paying existing bills, (utilities, cell phone, rent, internet, etc., they suck for opening a new account with someone or buying something mail-order.

But they are dirt cheap. Like under $2.00 each.

There are some options, for you.

We're almost all plastic cards and direct bank payments now. Very few checks are written today and they're probably going to do away with them all together.

I was wondering - the emotional side of this trip you've taken?? Do you fell tempted to contact your parents in Boulder now? Somehow help them plan better for the eventual bug out? Or bring something you found you all desperately needed later but could not get? I mean if you could make them believe you were the grown up version of the baby they're caring for now, you could certainly make like easier for all of you when the time to get to the cabin finally arrives. Surely there is something that is cheap, rare there, but plentiful here, and you could see that they take a major load of it with them when they do bug out with your younger self?

What about women or a woman in your life? (Assuming you're heterosexual.) Or a male partner if you are not? Thirty is a very shall we say "hormonally active time" in a man's life. What do you do for companionship and for sex, if I can be so crude as to inquire? Hopefully you've found some nice people who will not only share your story but maybe your body, too! Just thinking about what it must be like for you, I hope you are happy here and maybe even find love. Until you do so, a little lust isn't bad, either, however! <grin>
