That's very close to what I believe too. Maybe even a couple points higher.

I think if you factor in people who cant collect unemployment such as realtors, sales people who work on commission and any other commission based job, you are basically looking at closer to 30%. They dont count those people, and I know alot of them, realtors who have only made 5 or 6 grand this year due to slow housing sales, banks not getting back to buyers of foreclosures, and banks finding reasons not to lend money. 5 or 6 grand in 8 months is basically uneployed.

Depending on your state, go to your states unemployment website. It gives you the exact true numbers on their websites, usually on their front page.

At least California's does. Very simple.

Oh, and OP. EDD's websites do give the true numbers.

There was a thread here about 6 months ago, and everyone was talking about what the unemployment rate was at the time. Most who posted on that thread posted the numbers that were give out from local news sources.

California's EDD website had a higher percentage rate then what was being reported at that particular time.

I tried to post about it then, but it didnt get much attention. This thread is still in the beginning stages, so, if you go to the states EDD website, it should give the numbers on their front pages.

Hopefully you take a look into it. If you really want to know the numbers.

In my industry here in the southwest it's at least 50%. And from what I'm hearing, most of these jobs are never coming back.
