I guess what I'm saying is that I am finding it difficult to get to that amount of calories that you suggest without going over on the protein.

I have had around 450 calories with the foods I have mentioned earlier and I still feel quite full and not hungry.

The total protein I have taken today to go with those calories was around 32 grams.

Use oil, lots and lots of oil. I think olive oil for 1 tablespoon is 14g Fat, 0g Carbs, 0g Protein.

Isn't that just for extra energy though?

Do you actually need it to make this program work?

You need to keep the ratio's in check. For me being 6' and ideal weight of 180 I'm eating 240g Fat, 80g Protein and 20g Carbs. I've lost about 20lbs in one month and 10lbs the following month.

Is it the polyunsaturated fats in veggie oil that are bad?

I think I remember Scorpion saying that saturated and monounsaturated are the best right?

If you don't mind me asking, what is the problem with polyunsaturated fats? Why avoid?

When was the last time you ate an oily vegetable? Vegetable oil needs heat and sometimes chemicals to be extracted. Also the ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 is too high and the vegetable oil will actually be inflammatory.

Cool, thanks. I'm getting the hang of this now.

I am understanding now that I am basically going to have to drink like 4 oz. of olive oil per day to even get close to the amount of fat that I need.

Something else I realized in his original post was that he mentioned fats and calories don't really matter as long as you're watching the proteins and carbs. Yet I need to get above 1500 calories so that I don't go into starvation mode.

Is the fat purely for needed energy then?

The goal of this kind of eating is to get your body off of using carbohydrates for fuel to going back to how we used to fuel our bodies, and that is by fat. That's what ketosis is, is the breaking down of body fat to be used as fuel.

Scorpion, or anybody really...could you maybe give me an example of what your menu looks like on any given day?

I am similar to your present weight and ideal weight and was just curious as to how you pack that many calories and fat grams away per day.

The cheese pancakes are made from a pound of cheese, a dozen eggs, a bit of flour and baking powder, fried in 1" of lard.

2-3 of these pancakes will keep your motor running for a solid 7-8 hours. I top mine with cream cheese and a teaspoon of marmalade.

Wonder why a doctor has not advocated this diet? This thread is in all conspiracy websites...everywhere.

Wonder why? A "decidedly one" person decides against the many health professionals.... that eating high fat is good for you?!

Do your own research. Be reasonable.

Ive been on the diet for 10 days. Over the last 3-4 days Ive gotten a runny nose and am sneezing a lot. Is this connected in any way to the diet? Someone told me that its my body getting rid of toxins and also could be fat melting.
For 10 days my clothes have gotten loose - I havent weighed myself as I dont want what I see on the scale to demotivate me. Id rather go by how I fit into the clothes I wear.
While Im happy with my progress, Im concerned about the sneezing...

Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
I have been on essentially a zero carb diet for the last 4 weeks (in a few days) after reading Scorpions thread.

The only modification is that I am getting the saturated fats from sources other than animal meat, as I was an ovo lacto vegetarian before starting...

I feel like I am slowly emerging from a mental fog...not there yet, but occasional moments of clarity. My daily eating habits have completely changed and I think this is the first time in my life that I eat when I am truly hungry...not for pleasure or from boredom. It is a liberating experience!

I think that the carb addiction ended in earnest after about 2 weeks. I don't crave them anymore at all.

I started the first week with a 5 day complete fast...nothing but water. I believe that helped clear out my system and prepare me for a new way of eating. My current diet consists of sprouts, eggs, tuna/fish, shrimp, macadamia/peanuts/pine nuts/almonds or other high fat nuts. Lots of cream and cheese at every meal. It is a strange experience to shop for foods based on the highest fat content. I add lots of oil to the mix, avoiding the seed oils, except sesame. I am in the process of adding more high saturated oils to the diet as well.

I am going to make this diet a long term thing. Seriously, I really can't imagine eating how I did my entire life with lots of carbs..they dont even appeal to me anymore. I didn't weigh myself before or along the way, but I would say at the outset I was probably 5-10 pounds over my ideal weight. I can definitely feel a difference since starting and have probably lost a few pounds of body FAT. Maybe more. I am also starting to feel more energy so I will be adding some exercise to the routine when that picks up a little more.

I will check in after another 4 weeks and report my progress.

A sincere thank you to scorpion and the posters who have contributed their experiences
