Re: the concept of time (the happening)
There's always something happening but you don't notice everything.
Not all at once that is.
That's life. One after the other.
If you see all perspectives of the 'shan' at once you are in 'eternity'.

eternity...what a concept...

to be all...to know all,as it happened....this is a great concept

seems to quick tho

Yeah, that's why we chose to get a life.

we?...or he?

There is no real difference.
In that 'eternity' all perspectives, concepts, moments, beings are one.
The 'me, we, he'-thing is a partial view of the whole mountain at a certain time.
The decision was/is to experience this partial view. For fun.
Because it appears to last longer than 'eternity'. Funny eyh?
And it was the we/he/me/you who is doing it.

time is not flowing...time is you measuring movements by remembering what you previously did....

its a measurement of change...not an actual thing

As a theory, I would say it is all in our minds.

I had a experience, medical, my thyroid was killed and the replacement thyroid medication made everything around me stand still. It was my mental state that caused it. I felt no time passing or gravity being the same. I even began to
think everything was fake. I did an experiment to check the
gravity. I did a two mile hike on a very hot day and didn't
get tired or break a sweat. There seemed to be no gravity pull
that should tire you, walking up a hill. For me time was standing still or seem to be.

I think what we perceive as time and gravity is somewhere in our brains. You would think that isn't possible but when I was given the right medication, everything went back to normal. So what ever part of the brain, that that was effected by the wrong hormone, might be how we perceive time.

Gravity and time go together, even if it is just in your mind.

Re: the concept of time (the happening)
If time travel were possible to the past, I dont think it would be useful. In my thinking, the act of using the time machine takes you out of the effect of normal time-space temporarily (given the idea you have to practically punch a hole in the fabric of space like a wormhole with massive energy). Even ONE second back in time gives very bad results- think about how fast the Earth is moving.. plus the Sun/Solar System.. plus the galaxy! Any movement in time and thus stepping off the gravitational pull sticking us to this planet into your own bubble, is going to leave you millions of miles away from the Earth- wherever the Earth was in space at that time.

I think the passage of time is related to the enormous speed we are traveling at thru the fabric of the universe, compared to a dead stop. In fact, perspectively, if one were able to come to a dead stop, you would see the entire universe's contents speeding by, in a blinding white glare.

so in your logic
the faster you move the faster time is flowing
(rather, you are flowing threw time)

and the earth moving around is making time happen to everyone as a whole because we are all riding on it...so it seems relevant to all

does that mean...if you get off the earth and find out how to completely stop..(which would be hard to do w/o drifting away...or can you stop in space...how do you know when you aren't moving).....

if you can stop...would time?

One thing about velocity:
Traditional view is you are at rest and can accelerate infinately.
But physical reality suggests the reverse.
The upper limit is lightspeed and you can slowdown infinately.
There is no real "zero-velocity" because you are always moving relative to something else.

Re: the concept of time (the happening)
things are going to constantly move...never ending journey through the cosmos.and with the power to understand it is the greatest gift god could give to man! "the power of comprehension" most animals dont get to have such a gift.

Einstein once said "if you sit with a girl you like for a few hours it seems like a few minutes
but if you put your hand on a hot stove for a few minutes it seems like a few hours."

so...imo time is happening as fast as you want it to be
its happening as fast as your brain can prosses the information from your senses.

so if you try to prosses things faster in your head
you would have the ability to speed up time or slow it down(this is done threw meditation)

o and im not convinced we have a soul so i don't think that stuff about meditation

without man, time would not exist.
time is... man measuring change (of a constant).
w/o man, no one will be there to do the calculating..of time

wow the op is like brilliant

lol

yeah, its measurment

of the physical world. you know- rotation, revolution,
planetary movement - lol

its not simply perception

that would be to say the physcial world is a product of our sensory organs and cognition

lol

i would quote alber some more tho- it adds weight to the stunning conclusion of a baffoon

Re: the concept of time (the happening)
This is an interesting topic indeed.

Itzhak Bentov sets up an experiment everyone can try out for themselves in the book "Stalking the Wild Pendulum: On the Mechanics of Consciousness".

Shortly: Lie in a relaxed position on your stomach on your couch or where ever you feel comfortable.

Have a clock in front of you - preferably and old fashioned one with hour, minute and second hands. (Digital might work too, but I'm not sure about that).

Breathe deeply and become relaxed. Look forward toward the clock without focusing on it or anything else.

Now, visualize how you are lying on a beach; hear the seagulls above you, the playing children, the water flushing the beach in and out.
Feel the baking sun on you back.
Etc. Etc.
Give it as much detail as you can.

Now, looking forward with the clock in your field of view without staring directly at it you suddenly will see how the second hand stops and STANDS STILL.
If you break your concentration and focus on it, it will continue as normal.
The trick is not to break your concentration, if you can do that you will actually experience how time has stopped for you.

This experiment really works. Go ahead and try it. hf

light all travels at the same speed...
so if you move just as fast as it...it would apear to stand still!
if you look, at a clock then travel at the speed of light away from it..it would apear to stop..due to the fact that the newly changed light cant reach you...
so if you couild move faster...you would see light that was already emmited

hello !!

and yes....I understand it....albeit a little different....

Starting with the vaccum concept....the speed of light in a pure vaccum is ZERO....because there is a constant tempature in a pure vaccum....

light is the after effect of the universe, not the primary energy source to find the true nature of the universe....

constant speed of light means no entropy....or at least entropy that can be conceived of....

Tempature is the true gauge of the Cosmos....tempature and pressure that is.....

anyways....I will be back soon !!

let me put out some other fires first....

Re: the concept of time (the happening)
Time never had a beginning.

For most humans this concept is incomprehensable, so they accept a religious concept of time.

Because, if you understand that time never had a beginning, it logically follows that existence never had a beginning.

I will keep the religious books out of this tp prevent this thread to become another religious battlefield. Otherwise....;-)

Time is not just one dimension, time also consists of many dimensions. Time is linear, time is circular, time is spiral, time is flexible, time can grow, time can become denser, or more dimensional etc.

Like different humans have different brains, their ability to understand time is also different. Think about these: How does a rabbit understand time? How does a worm understand time? How does a microbe understand time?

Our ability to remember, to oversee linear time, is different from from creature to creature, but also our intellectual ability to oversee the dimensions of time differ from creature to creature.

So, what does that make time?

It makes time both a personal experience and a universal experience, and everything in between, and beyond.
