Depends on how you look at it as both of those words will work.

They both mean split (or a part) of a larger group. Both groups together make up what we have been conditioned to call the "Illuminati"

I'm glad somebody noticed.

The David Rockefeller group (Energy group) is not worried as much about stopping Global Warming as they have the oil. Worrying about stopping Global Warming would get people to want to use less oil and they would lose their power.

The Rothschild group (Banking group) is more worried about Global Warming (or at least appears that way) so that they can get a Carbon Credit Currency which would give them more control over the people through that one world Carbon Credit currency.

Think of it has a tug of war.

One side has Energy Control and the other side Currency Control.

I definitely see your point in the two sides, Energy vs. Currency, but I don't think they are necessarily opposed to one another. Like the Air Force and the Navy, they are two heads of a great hydra; but that doesn't mean there won't be any friendly fire.

On an aside, I think there are lots of subfactions, mirroring the individual's allegiance to whatever "supernatural" factions exist, be they star systems, pantheons, whatever.
