Should be able to get them at a locally owned jewlery store or definitely a pawn shop. Usually they have a set price. I buy the $500.00 bag that is an assortment of the above. here I buy it breaks out to about 17.50 an ounce regardless of the daily spot price. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 997211 United States 08/12/2010 12:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Go to your local coin shops. Check the current spot value of silver that day before you go. You will pay a premium over spot, usually 10-20%. You can also buy rounds which are 1 ounce silver coins minted by private mints, they are not sovereign mint issue. They have less of a premium and run closer to spot. Also check out Kitco's precious metals site before you go to see what they are selling silver for: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 961432[link to online.kitco.com (secure)] If you fid a local shop that you buy somewhat regularly you will get a better price. On my last $500.00 "bag", I checked it against the spot. I got the following: six dollars- 40.14 total 76 quarters- 253.84 total 82 dimes- 243.88 total This was a purchase of $500. The spot price that day was 18.50 and I ended up with $537.86 at market price. |

At 18.50 an ounce a dime is worth %1.34, a quarter is $3.34 and a dollar is $6.69. |

So forget eBay straight away. Secondly, online dealers are obviously going to be cheaper than the brick'n'mortar dealers, so I personally recommend www.groveshark.com this is a website that finds you the lowest prices offered by the most reputable online dealers. It's also a great source of reference. I found a company called Texas Precious Metals from it when buying some Canadian Silver Maple Coins and they were cheapest by far! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1052269 I've bought a lot of them, several hundred, and quite a few 100 oz. bars from [link to www.golddealer.com] That's actually the URL for California Numismatic Institute. Shipping is free and so is insurance. At least it was the last I checked. They give you a buy/sell price like $1.50/2.50 over spot. There are no extra fees or commissions. I've never had a problem with them buying them or selling them back. |

If you really have money to invest put it in 2.2lb(1kg)(troy) Ingot's. Buy them from an old miner or from a reputable assayer. research it on www.49ermike.com lots of good info there. This crap gets any deeper I'll need my waders. |
