know as the 1929 Laurentian Slope earthquake

On November 18, 1929 at 5:02 pm
Newfoundland time, a major earthquake occurred approximately 250 km south of Newfoundland along the southern edge of the Grand Banks. This magnitude 7.2 tremor was felt as far away as New York and Montreal (see isoseismal map of felt area below). On land, damage due to earthquake vibrations was limited to Cape Breton Island where chimneys were overthrown or cracked and where some highways were blocked by minor landslides. A few aftershocks (one as large as magnitude 6) were felt in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland but caused no damage.

2 1/2 hours after the earthquake the tsunami struck the southern end of the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland as three causing local sea levels to rise between 7 to 10 and waves over 15 metres. tsunami was recorded along the eastern seaboard as far south as South Carolina and across the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal.

The earthquake triggered a large submarine slump (an estimated volume of 200 cubic kilometres of material was moved on the Laurentian slope) which ruptured 12 transatlantic cables in multiple places.

when the plates pull apart as is happening right down the middle of the Atlantic Ocean forming Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

A string of volcanic islands along the ridge occur when the ocean surface is breached. Iceland is the largest of these conditions and is the beginning formation of a new continent. It will continue to grow as the plates spread. In all three conditions of collision, sliding and split, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. The conditions and the impact vary in each case because of local conditions and latitude.

he current fissure eruption occurring under the ice is aggravated because the heat melts the glacier so the added water intensifies the eruptive force. It also causes extensive local flooding with heavy rapid mudflows, which is a major concern for local residents.

These fissure eruptions occur all the time, although this particular region has been quiet for 200 years.

volcanic dust from the eruption is already rising to 6 km and sometimes 11 km into the atmosphere and being spread across the Northern Hemisphere. Iceland is in the zone of the Westerlies, the great river of air that contains the Jet Stream. The pattern is reflected in the distribution of dust in Western Europe.

now why did you think the Jet Stream is fucked up?

JEllyfish are a plancton like orgranism spreeding far more in water with high sulfur level ( around sub valocano )

now the worldwide ocean chimistry are total fuckedup Jelly like many other organism are on a high evolution peek. they are now invasive species.

undreds of Swimmers Stung by Jellyfish Invading Spanish Beach

Hundreds of swimmers on Spain's holiday beaches have been stung by swarms of jellyfish that have swept along the Costa Blanca.

At least 700 people have complained of being stung since Sunday - 380 alone on Tuesday.

Normally just a handful of swimmers are stung every day.

The jellyfish are tiny and invisible, meaning it is difficult to warn bathers of their presence.

"In the five or six years I have been in this job, I have never seen anything like this," said Juan Carlos Castellanos, of Elche's city tourism department.

apocalyptic vision of oceans taken over by jellyfish

We are moving from a marine ecosystem dominated by big fish to a soup of small organisms. If we carry on like this the only things in the sea will be jellyfish and plankton soup.

A return to primeval slime? A lot of pressures are pushing in that direction, The mechanisms are there to make that happen. Ecosystems are flexible up to a point, but no one knows when elasticity breaks into a different sort of ecosystem and you get an irreversible shift. This plague of jellyfish is a like hazard warning light. It's a wake-up call.

Portuguese Man-of-War, locusts and vampire bats attack

Could nature be starting to take its revenge on mankind? Swarms of rabid vampire bats and jellyfish have been terrorising people in Peru and Spain, while Australia is braced for its worst plague of locusts since 1973 and mosquitoes are spreading disease in Europe and India.

In Peru emergency teams have been dispatched to villages in the Amazon where an outbreak of rabies has been reported after vampire bats descended on Urakusa in the north-eastern Peruvian Amazon, near the border with Ecuador.

Re: !Watch Grímsvötn Volcano! new EQs 5.2 Iceland Mid-Atlantic-Ridge,GOM and Seabed leak sulfur/methane Ocean species DYING. world Ecosystem S
Most of the marine life familiar to us at the surface inhabits the epipelagic zone, the sunlit realm, stretching down to about 600 feet. Yet many whales, dolphins, seals, sea turtles, sharks, manta rays, billfish, and smaller predatory fish are nocturnal hunters, dependent on the mysterious movements of a vast community of organisms known as the deep scattering layer, or DSL. This aggregation of life forms was unknown until the 1920s, when early hydrographers mapping the ocean with sound encountered a daytime "seafloor" around 3,300 feet, which rose perplexingly toward the surface at night. Named for its echo-reflecting signature, the DSL was eventually recognized by marine biologists in 1948 to be layers of living creatures hiding on the cusp between perpetual twilight and darkness.

The lantern fish, bristlemouths, hatchetfish, and crustaceans of the DSL are believed to account for 80 percent of all the biomass in the mesopelagic zone, with lantern fish alone making up some 660 million tons of living fish—perhaps the greatest distribution, population, and species diversity of all ocean fish on the planet. The mesopelagic fauna also includes many kinds of squid, krill, and siphonophores and ctenophores (jellyfish-like animals), as well as worms, sea butterflies, and larvae that comprise the DSL zooplankton. The vast life of the deep scattering layer supports the surface life above it.

with the HUGE leak of sulfur/methane on ocean fragile chimistry. This shutdown of the natural filtration system allows arsenic levels to rise from the deep water to the surface, disrupting photosynthesis in phytoplankton, increasing birth defects and triggering behavioral changes in marine, mamals life, and killing animals that feed on poisoned prey. Lead the blomming of blue type algue and fast spreading of swamp, marsh ecotype

now wonder why russia is burning too, its the jetstream split in 2.

Normally the jet stream is a giant loop of high speed winds that whip round the upper atmosphere. The jet stream isn't involved in day to day weather -

it's too high up - but because it pushes the atmosphere around it's very important in steering large scale weather patterns below.

The stream has split in two. One arm has gone north, another south. The patch in the middle is Russia's drought. A circulating pattern of air has been sitting over Russia for far longer than normal, causing the extreme temperatures and wildfires they've had there.

But what's happening over Pakistan is even stranger. The southern arm of the Jet stream has looped down so far it has crossed over the Himalayas into north western Pakistan. Experts at the Met Office say this is VERY UNUSUAL.
And the result is that the fast moving jets stream winds high up have helped suck the warm, wet, monsoon air even faster and higher into the atmosphere - and that has caused rains like no one can remember. It has turbo charged the monsoon if you like. They're NOT SURE THAT'S EVER HAPPENED BEFORE.
