That makes all 50 states eligible. But, according to Obama, that makes all 57 states eligible.

Since most of the jobs have gone oversees, and apparently a lot of fortunate people are still working, yet are put out by the lazy ones who lost their jobs, why don't you working people offer to take a 50% pay cut so the ones laid off can come back and work with you?

This actually happened in my workplace a few years ago:
During a shift meeting a fellow "co-worker" stood and asked to state his views on the companys recent hiring of additional employees. ( this was in the '90's) He complained that there were TOO many new hires and that the company had therefore cut out "HIS" overtime and that he'd be willing to work overtime for straight-time pay if the company would lay-off the new guys! True story!
That's the mind-set you're dealing with here.....Lay 'em off, then bitch because they draw unemployment.

the problem is that they dont take their benefits and buy storable food and prepare for the termination of the benefits.

i have a friend with 6 kids currently taking state food stamps (now on card)...they get 1500 a month...

they have gained 30 pounds and find it difficult to spend the money each month.....

i asked him what would they do if the card didnt come in the mail...he said they would be in big trouble....

i said, well live on 900 bucks a month for food, lose some weight and spend the rest on powdered milk for the babies, and storable food, soup and bulk items, sugar, salt, bread to freeze, etc.....still nothing but, yeah i know we should do that...

i dont mind helping people when they are down and out, but for heavens sake, use it to get ahead not FAT!!!!!
