You find what you want to find in there. Been using SL for a few years and never engaged in either of those. I've met plenty of other aerospace enthusiasts though, and I've found it to be an interesting place to do astronomy outreach, especially to those who, due to physical disabilities, have been unable to see through telescopes in real life. If porn and gambling are what you expect to find there, then that's all you'll find. I think it says more about Pirillo's bias than it does about the full range of SL's possibilities.
