How do you get around our freedom of religion and property rights issue without shooting ourselves in the foot? I simply ask you to THINK about what the consequences would be to interfere in this matter. It's a slippery slope with the result of taking more of our own freedoms away. This whole issue has been generated as a way to incite the American public against Islam. Seems to be working so well that we'll gladly give up more of our rights to stop it. Which is the real result they are looking to achieve, and you wont be able to blame them once enacted. People need to STOP listening to the propaganda agents / talk show hosts / influence peddlers and START thinking for themselves. You being led like sheep and it's painful to watch! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 975204what happened to making dissisions on moral grounds respect.what kind of person would disregard the lives of so many. First of all, the "law for all" would be a correct statement, except that allowing muslims to have a mosque would mean that jews should also be allowed a temple, and christians a cathedral, and maybe even wiccans should have a stone circle, etc etc...The fact that religion is protected under our constitution doesn't mean that this particular expression of those rights is fair to all the others. Bear in mind, also, that Christian symbols have been disallowed in many public places, and prayer has been forbidden in schools. So, yes, equal rights for all, but no favoritism. Secondly, with respect to the poster's comments on "disregarding the lives of so many", I'm not sure if the victims of the terror attack would have wanted ALL muslims to be vilified for the act of so few. How can that even work? If one man commits a rape, do we imprison them ALL? It's not practical or even American. If we can't think beyond this by now, we're doomed going forward. Does anyone recall what the spokesperson for the Amish community said immediately following the shootings of the schoolchildren? His first words were of forgiveness for the attacker. |

Poll: Growing number incorrectly call Obama Muslim WASHINGTON Americans increasingly are convinced incorrectly that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, and a growing number are thoroughly confused about his religion. Nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they think Obama is Muslim, up from the 11 percent who said so in March 2009, according to a poll released Thursday. The proportion who correctly say he is a Christian is down to just 34 percent. The largest share of people, 43 percent, said they don't know his religion, an increase from the 34 percent who said that in early 2009..... [link to news.yahoo.com] |

Answering a reporter's question at a political event in Columbus, Ohio, the president initially paused, then turned to a TV camera and said, "The answer is no regrets." Obama entered the fray Friday, saying he supported the right of Muslims to build there. Amid political backlash a day later, the president said he was commenting on religious freedom, not the exact location of the mosque . 2 years and he'll be out......
