i also know another employee of applied materials who is being encouraged to move to sri lanka. both jobs currently operate out of the states but the employees that these people are supervising are increasingly foreign. Anyone else hearing similar stories? How is this possible right now? If taxpayers are going to bailout corporations if they fail, shouldn't outsourcing to foreign countries be illegal?

will it really make things better to charge the company with a crime?

This is a step of moving an industry to a third world nation where production is cheap. Dell is moving operations out of the US. Your American friend will get fired eventually so the transferred has to be worth the trouble.

Should it be illegal? We signed world trade agreements and the Senate passed them. That created a global economy. To restrict trade is against the law. We could give tax incentives for Dell to stay in our country, but we have a Muslim socialist President who hates private industry (except for the big corporations that enrich him and his pals) and he hates America and loves the taxes for centralized government.

GM has moved some production to Mexico since Barack took it over. The Unions are too expensive.

In my opinion, global trade does not work for Western countries. We have to go down to be competitive with third world workers. That is why we are losing our middle class. Europe will find the same. With the trade agreements, this is all out of our control as voting citizens and trade with foreign nations should be in our control - to our advantage as a nation and people.

This is the problem with globalization. We lose control over our own fates and we lose our freedom and unique cultural idenities.
