AURORA WATCH: A coronal mass ejection (movie) is heading toward Earth and could spark a geomagnetic storm when it arrives on June 14th or 15th. Sky watchers in Canada and northern-tier US states should be alert for auroras. The CME was hurled into space by a C-class explosion near sunspot 775 on June 12th. Because the cloud is expected to deliver only a glancing blow to Earth´s magnetic field, the resulting storm should be mild.

HINT: Midnight is the best time for aurora-watching. That´s when Shawn Malone saw these lights over Marquette, Michigan, on June 13th:
