There are downsides to a poll, with a poll if something big happens(FF, Middle east breakout, Solar doom) out of nowhere it takes many votes to change that status...

First you need to create GLP credits. What does one do with a GLP credit? You spend it in the doom casino. What is a doom casino? It is a sub part of the forum where the speculative doomtards hang out. Someone puts up a potential doom event, there are rules, the doom must be specific with a time frame. Then people place bets on the doom whether or not they think it is likely to occur. They use their GLP credits for the gambling. For kudos, you can place the accumulated GLP credits next to a user's name like some kind of badge of honor. Highly accredited user's would be sought out for advice and recommendations on potential doom posted for review.
