I am a Christian and I can sorta see OP's point. If he/she went to a football practice he/she shouldn't end up a prayer meeting.

Now as a Christian, I pray whenever wherever in my daily life, the Lord is my strength. No group public participation is required. Sometimes I meet Christians and we pray on the spot. No biggie. We don't require unbelievers to join

I'm a Christian. I'm not offended by your remarks. These type of "Christians" you refer to are shallow types, no doubt. They probably wear their religion on their sleeves and try, incessantly, to drag you into it. They can just have a quiet prayer off to themselves, they don't need the public prayer.

Public prayer is OK but not when it bothers people. Many don't realize that its a PERSONAL relationship with God, not an out loud, preaching frenzy. You can have salvation without ever uttering a single public prayer.

My take on it is that these people don't really understand the Christian faith. The public display of religion *IS* their religion.
