No doubt Sickscents threads are some of the most popular on glp. And I usually read every page. When astronut comes on I know we are all in for a fun ride. The same goes for some of the other posters.

But here's my take on preparing for all these major cataclysms. Stay at ground zero if you can. I spent a lot of money over the years preparing for one possible disaster after another. So did both my parents. Nothing ever happened. BUT...that's not to say it won't.

So, for me, preparing has become a sort of form of entertainment. Keeps me out of trouble. Usually.LOL

I think it's great to store some food, water, kerosene for lanterns, propane to heat food or make coffee, books, etc., just in case you live through it all. I prefer not to live through it all.

Here's why. There are over 300,000,000 people in this country. 99.99% don't have a clue what may be coming, nor do they have any preps. But they will quickly discover who does. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to keep preps and gardens and power (if you have some) a secret.

If this country is 2 weeks or longer without power all hell is going too break loose.

People talk about having guns and shooting others to protect family and preps. Have most of you ever thought of the mindset this will take to do this. And the inner repercussions to you and your family if this is how you'll now have to live.

Sickscent has a great signature.....

This is really the best prep for you and your family that you can have. Just do what you can as far as preps goes but truthfully, if things get as bad as predictions are saying, they probably won't do a whole lot of good.

I'm not a pessimist. It's just common sense if you look at the whole picture. To worry is a waste of time. No one has any answers. No one can tell you what you need or should do. Follow your gut. I saw all this stuff about protecting your electrical items. LOL. What a hoot! Would be nice if the grid was up and running.

If you'd like a tiny taste of what might happen, then reread what happened after Katrina. And that was after lots of people were still around to help.

The bickering can end. SS has posted many threads that were quite enlightening and there was no bickering. Astronut could just but out and allow each of use to be adults and do our own due diligent and that would put an end to it.

2. I remember in the very beginning of the original thread that the mod involved specifically posted that they had verified that this guy was legit - so did another poster and it wasn't Sickscent as I recall

This may be a silly question but if the axis spin changes to the opposite of what it is now how in the world does anyone survivie that? no amount of prep can stave off the destruction that would do. Earthquakes and tsunamis never dreamed of. Just a thought, but if we reverse spin then we are ALL toast period. Perhaps I am interpreting this wrong but I do know that fact noone would survive that.

As for the massive emP. I had my doubts but even a fool can now see that something is brewing and more people are taking notice.

I agree. If the we reverse our spin, wouldn't that equate to a severe drop in gravity? How would the atmosphere maintain itself in such a scenario, and what proof can anyone provide of such a thing happening in the past?

The whole idea of the Earth spinning in an opposite direction seems as implausable as a 'pole shift' via sudden and massive crustal movement over the asthenosphere (SP?). Polarity shift, yeah, I get that one... but pole shift or the world reversing its spin... come on... really?

This is kind of freaky! I remember awhile ago (maybe around a year or so ago approximately) on Project Camelot a lady emailing them saying something along the lines that her husband worked for an electrical company and that they (her husbands elec. co) were preparing(or something along those lines) for some possible near future catastrophic event that would knock out the entire electrical grid also!!
Does anyone else by chance also recall see that? I remember in the email that she said her husband was very concerned!! I will try to locate that story on their archieve and post a link to it.

I didn't post the article but I have seen that before. If you want to know if those asteroids are real it's a fairly simple matter to observe them when they're each "in season," so to speak. I can demonstrate that the asteroids that make up that diagram are indeed real as can many others.

Well, last year I moved out to a relatively rural area in Tennessee. Made sure that I was close to lakes...cattle...horse farms...TONS of gardens and active farming...etc.

AWAY from any type of big city.

Most important thing besides getting out/away from the cities, is a manual of how to make and do things. Got everything from how to make a distillery, to medical and health remedies...what plants are edible...etc. etc.

Do you have a Faraday Cage? Me and my dad built one 8 feet by 4 feet wide by four feet tall. Have alternators, 3 generators, nightvision, radios etc...
if an EMP from the sun hits and you dont have your vital electrical compnents in the cage you are screwed.
Oh and by the way the MYTH that if the electrical component is turn off an EMP wont hurt it BS

I don't have one...I am up in the air with how much they would actually help...if the entire grid goes down, you'll have to work off other power supplies...etc. i think it is a good short term thing to do, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Yeah, and something about metal tape at all seams...


I think this makes total sense for fridges as the plastic seal around the door is obviously not shielded. Don't think this applies so much for microwave ovens which are already designed to block em radiation when the door is closed. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to tape the seam of the door on a microwave. Also, an old stove would be a good faraday cage too.
