I have ben in the firearms industry for many years.I have had in my possesion almost every black rifle ever made.I have tested allmost every gun on earth at one time or another(yes there are exceptions i know)My personal collection of assault rifles exceeded 300.I definetly know my shit about firearms.
I got in the industry because i thought it would be a great place to meet fellow Americans with honor and integrity.I only found among the manufacturers and most of the mom and pop's bickering and backstabbing.
I read these post's and remember why i left the industry now.You all sound like a bunch of bitches!!!!
At a time in the world when we need to be united in our cause for freedom, alot of you need to be cannon fodder. For god's sake quit your bitching you armchair comandos.

I'll stick with my Tanfoglio/EAA for a 9mm...wasn't the priciest pistol on the shelf...but I like it better than a Barretta 92F...which I also owned for quite awhile and traded off...

Never jams, never had one problem....rock solid...

A buddy of mine just picked one of those up. I haven't gotten to shoot it yet, but it feels real good in my hand. Looks like a heck of a nice gun for not much money.
 Quoting: Evil Twin

It's more or less a CZ-75...very much based on that design anyway and it's probably one of the most "pointable" natural feeling 9's I've ever held. I will bet you are going to like it...a lot...it's one of those not much hype great pistols for sure. Check out the long slide rails which are inside the frame, not outside on it too...;)

Few snips from an article...I would recommend one of these to anybody as an affordable, reliable, well built 9mm.....but I'll still keep my .45 Double Eagle and the AMT.45 backup hard baller, lol....;)

Tanfoglio EAA Witness
Written by Steven Tracy

Tanfoglio. European American Armory. Chances are that you never have heard of either this gun maker or this firearms importer. In reality, Tanfoglio has been making quality firearms in Italy since the end of World War II. Its line of semi-auto pistols is imported by European American Armory under the model name Witness.

The Witness is based on the popular Czech CZ-75 design, one that hand-gunning expert Colonel Jeff Cooper has emphasized as a superior pistol system. A hardcore group of enthusiasts think the Tanfoglio EAA Witness is the best handgun available.

>>>

Shooting Impressions

The Witness reviewed for this article was originally chambered .38 Super. The .38 Super fires the same bullet as the 9mm but pushes it 100 to 200 fps faster. The 38 Super is essentially a 9mm +P+. The .38 Super magazine holds 18 rounds, the same as the 9mm version. With a double-magazine pouch on a duty belt and one round in the chamber, that totals to 55 rounds of ammo!

The CZ-75 grip design allows the Witness to sit high in your hand, which helps manage recoil. The long grip tang prevents any hammer bite. Ergonomically, this gun fit my hand better than any other high-capacity handgun, some of which feel like chunks of 2x4 wood. The factory rubber grips are dovetailed into the frame for a slim fit.

The excellent factory sights (fixed front, rear drift adjustable) are big and have the three-dot set up. The single-action trigger pull is fantastic with no over travel and a trigger break at 4 pounds of finger pressure. The double-action was long and required much more pressure. However, this firearm is designed for carry in single-action mode, leaving the harder trigger pull for hitting a primer a second time.

The Witness auto pistol proved to be one of the most accurate guns I’ve ever fired. Groups were right in the middle of the black bullseye when using a center hold, the way a fixed sight combat gun should be. At 7 yards, offhand, 10 rounds grouped into 2 inches. Design contributes to accuracy, as the slide rails are on the inside of the frame instead of the outside. More than 600 rounds of .38 Super ammo were fired without any malfunctions.

Two years ago I bought a 9mm Hi-Point C9 with a compensator. I've run a few hundred rounds through it. Its a tremendously reliable gun. Since I picked it up, I bought a regular C9, a 995 9mm carbine and a CF380. I love them all! The gun snobs tell me they are cheap but at the range they all want to shoot it because it shoots so much better than their Blocks, er, uh, Glocks.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why everyone gripes about things being made overseas then when some company like Hi-Point comes along and creates a good product with an unlimited lifetime warranty they still don't buy it and complain they are not any good.

Comments?

They contain location microchips imo. Someone should open one up to see.

With my 995TS and my c9 i have put 1200 rounds through them in one day with no malfunctions of any kind. Mind you i have had the 995 for twelve years and barely replaced the extractor and mag release about two months ago. Yea they don't have the high name like Glock, S&W, or Springfield but they function every bit as well will simple field cleanings for years. I now own one of each hi-point pistol and my 995TS. All run flawlessly every time, and while other guys have one $600 gun with big name i got my hi points for the price of their one pistol and twice the ammo. Mind you all i shoot is Federal and Hornady ammunition. No reloads because i've had one double loaded and blow my 25-06 up in my face.

Hi Point sucks. They will work for a while, but are made of inferior materials and you can expect the plastic to crack and the metal parts to wear out. Barrels are not strong, can crack when using +P loaded ammo. Glock is the standard for cheap, reliable guns. Kel-Tec makes a cheap gun that is much better than a Hi-Point. With that said, having 10 Hi Point guns may be arguably better than having 1 expensive gun. Only because you can arm your friends if the need arises.

second hand unsubstantiated evidence?? whatever there are very few failures compared to the number of guns sold. Here is a picture of a broken 1911 barrel

[link to i171.photobucket.com]

they are all rated for +p. those 3 pics are all of the same gun. every gun in existance has had one out there fail catastrophically, we dont know the back story.

False Hi Point will send out parts for free if you want to work on your gun yourself, but sending it back usually gets you a free magazine for your troubles. Haven't had to send mine back, 500+ rounds thru my c9 with zero FTF or FTE. Best part was $129 new in the box.

I have shot both the 9mm carbine and pistol. Maybe 1 jam per 100 rounds or so.

They seem fine to me. But I'm not a marksman either.

For my level of skill, I am the limiting factor, not the firearm. And the price is right.

Here's the deal.
The barrel is built like a Sherman Tank and very high grade forged steel that is then polished and intensely blued. It's absorbing 99.99% of the combustion and the gas released through the primer port activates the slide to eject the spent casing and chamber the next round.

Hi Points are rated for +P ammunition.
+P ammunition also requires +P grade brass shells.
+P ammunition is 30% and sometimes greater than the maximum powder load allowance for your average big name brass shell bullets.

The slide is a cast metal known as Zamak-3. A tried and true casting metal.

Pot metal refers to cheap, soft scrap that in the 80's and 90's often included lead and rarely do we see it manufactured outside of China. Pot metal is not a strict recipe. It is whatever the brokers can find that isn't toxic, is cheap and can produce a shiny alloy for jewelry sold at concerts and the mall. Garbage tools at flea markets.

Admittedly, Zamak-3 is the lowest grade of the family of casting metals. It is however used for seat belt buckles other car parts and reliable but low budget tools. You have zamak alloys all around you and don't even know it. Bolts in various appliances and even tools in your garage. The stuff is just everywhere.

In this tress test we see the Hi Point after it has been run over, shot with a blocked barrel, thrown around, crucial parts filed and it still shoots reliably. They do even more to it in the video I included and it still fires reliably. This and other owner testimonials influenced my decision to buy 2 Hi Points over an American made Umarex/Colt 1911. The pictures of split Hi Points fake and sawed or truly the result of manufacturer defect have not resulted in injury or lawsuit and, Hi Point literally throws free parts at you without asking for shipping. The gun's have a lifetime warranty and, it's irresponsible to shoot recreationally without safety glasses and ear protection in the first place.

In closing.
The barrels on my .40's are bigger than that on any Remington or Colt .45 my father owns and about equal to his .44 magnum revolvers with a 7 inch barrel. It's easily twice as thick as common brand high caliber pistols and is made from a very high grade forged gun steel. There's no shortage of light slides made from forged steel these days in tried and true pistol models from big brand names.
It's a simple and clever design that utilizes a cheap metal slide and a polymer frame. Every single component in the gun that is metal uses FORGED STEEL. Very high quality gun metal and gun grade spring steel.
You're literally crying about the slide which is not a high stress component. It sees 1/1000 of the 40,000 PSI it's rated for.
The SLIDE is the only ZAMAK-3 in the gun!
Even the pins holding it together are heavy duty steel.

The guns are cheap as they should be. They have used a simple design that is not without defect but metals that are 100% reliable. A few Hi Points have failed, majority have not. This is true of every single gun brand and model that exists.

Hi point main bad shit is the magazines are made with really thin gauge steel and the feed lips can come out of shape and cause various failure to feed issues.

Just remember to keep the gun clean and check the feed lips on the magazine for proper form from time to time.

Hi points are great rugged firearms that are ugly as sin and made in the usa
