Hand-pump well and a buried airstream with large trees felled over, then a dirt cover over the tree canape. Good luck! It's not easy finding desirable land in that price range that would meet my needs. We all breathe the same air. .-.. --- ...- . / .- .-.. .-.. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1031881 United States 08/31/2010 11:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't want to be in this matrix anymore. I'm considering quitting my job, selling everything I own, paying off all remaining debt, and leaving the system. I think within two months I can get rid of what I own, and owe, and end up with about 25 grand in cash. What would you do? Quoting: Sick-Of-It-All 1080169Depends on where your at, and exactly how far of the grid you want to go. If you simply want a life of leisure out of the way of the maddening rush, perhaps consider a isolated lake lot, they are usually cheap. I would specifically look for property that offers a power supply such as a live stream or creek where one could install generators to accommodate electricity. With electricity you could power things like free to air satellite, relieving yourself of another bill and taxes, plus benefit from the ability to get coverage from around the world and not be limited to time warner's view of life. If you still wished to partake in society, and perhaps even profit, I would study the amish methods, perhaps there's something in their way you too could build without pollution that could enrich your and another life's. (I personally have a affordable building plan) Just remember to be "off the grid" requires land. You then have the ability to grow food stocks, generate energy, and to build your dreams. 25K is not a lot, however if you go inland, you would be amazed at what you can purchase for 10K or less as the rest of the nation suffers at 150K to 250K. You will be further amazed at the lower cost of food. To be truly free and no longer a slave, you must remain debt free. If not you will always have to get on that 9 to 5. The right property will provide all your needs and leave you with excess food, energy, and $$. Good luck. |

Lived there for many years. Best thing I ever did! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1079627This really appeals to me. Thanks for sharing. |

Depending on your weight I would go with something like a 650 though... gas wouldn't be bad and it would carry you around a little bit better... BTW the bike idea is what I would do... something about a open road and a bike... |

I remember the day I quit the job/matrix and it was the best day of my life. And I didn't have near 25,000. Get out of debt, sale what you don't need, get a cheap apartment, wait for TSTHTF... That's my advice...then again I'm considered crazy by most. |
