Just a couple of weeks ago GLP had to fork out over $3,000 for legal advice on how to stop rip off lawyers trying to stop us posting interesting stuff from elsewhere. And if this would have succeeded then GLP would have become little more than just another chat site.

It's like saying it's outrageous that I have to pay $25,000 for a new auto when the dealer gets it for only $12,500. Conveniently forgetting that he has to pay site rental, advertising, city license fees, staff costs, health and all kinds of other insurances, accountants fees, electric, gas, water, sewers, and so on, and so on.

No. It's you who should get real. You can get a full year for only $100 like I do, or if money is tight go for a 4 month sub once a year, and a free account for the other 8 months.

Besides which if your site got even a small percentage of the traffic that GLP does, I can guarantee that they would soon be wanting a lot more than $4.99 a month off you.

i'd gladly contribute $10 to help with costs. but asking $50 or $100 (PER YEAR) is just too much for my wallet, and i suspect most other peoples as well.

I'd get on board if the price was cheaper. I have a free membership but it would be nice to choose my own avatar, maybe send the odd private message, and post pictures, but I'm not going to pay 10 bucks a month for options that almost every other discussion board on the internet give you for free.

Sure I could get the 4 month for 37 bucks, but even that is steep, for that price I can get a year long subscription to at least 2 different magazines (if only I read magazines!)

Hmmm..perhaps Trinity might consider a mid level membership? One that is half the cost of the regular one at 5.00 a month, but the only perk is no ads. That level would not include the other perks of membership such as smilies, the enhanced forum, etc. I bet quite a few might go for that kind of deal :)

A simple paypal 'donate' button would fit the costs i believe, unleash smilies and picture display from external site and the membership count would grow quickly, therefore sponsoring/advertising fees would follow the trend, also remove the AC posting so the shills and the nutcases will think twice before registering to the website to spread BS and do shit...

Fucking paypal got all screwed up on me, and i had to fire my bank. now I use a prepaid card, and paypal wont link to it. bastards. and I REFUSE to go get another checking account. no way... never again.

But if he cuts the price in half and gets 10x more paying members... then he is making more money to pay his creditors isn't he.

But that is the conundrum... if you drop the price, will membership go up? will it go up enough to recover existing revenue. Will you be making 10x more money do to 20x more members.... it's a risk, but with risk, there is return.

If you don't have ten bucks, I doubt you have five...but hey everything's cheaper at half the price right?
