I heard music in the background, sounded almost like country music.

The thing that is worrysome is UVB 76 has been around since 1982.

In 28 years of existance we can count the periods of active transmission on one hand.

Why is this obsolete analog glorified ham radio being heated up now with all the super power communication technologies available today.?

Is the Power grid soon to go down? Will communication Satalites be worthless soon?

I was at home and asked my little lady. she speaks russian and says they are counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ..10. a gap then they repeat the counting.

The music could be part of the transmission, whoever is listening (agents, sleeper cells) will receive the combination of random numbers/names in combination with a certain soundtrack so that he/she gets the order for any specific task? It sounds like random gibberish to people out of the loop, but to others it can have a certain purpose.

But why use such outdated systems? Because nobody expects it? Why is it still functioning to this day?

Lads and Lasses, sorry to be a bit of a meany. But I think you will find that some drunk Russian lads are having a bit of a laugh at your expense.

The chances of intercepting any signal (Cryptic or otherwise) of any government are about zero. Even the guards at military bases have encrypted radio communication.

I must admit that I trawl the airwaves for "slip up's" but you will never find anything more interesting than emergency rescue traffic.

True, no doubt.

But there are those (myself included) who believe the USSR planted sleeper agents across the world 20, 30, even 40 years ago.

Now, if you were a true sleeper agent, you would not have the most up-to-date means of communication that the Russian military/FSB hands out to their agents today.

Thus, there would have to be a way to communicate with these old timers. Radio makes the most sense. Remember, this station has been broadcasting now for nearly 25 years without a break.

Maybe, although i'm having a hard time believing some drunks would take the time to either hack into/operate an old forgotten radio system that has been running for decades, that has no regular listener base outside of conspiracy sites and would take the time to repeat the same numbers/messages over and over again at random dates. That and the voice sounds fairly monotone.

This looks really damn close to that particular system. From february on to august the transmissions consisted of numbers and names, then in early september it changed to music and morse code... Trigger?

Other than that, Swan Lake definitely is a rather interesting choice.
