According to this freelancer's article there seems to be something strange going on with the strategic US food reserves. Similar problems became evident to a wider public during the last heavy snow-fall days and evidence is mounting that something is going on regarding food in 2010 - even in the so called developed countries.

In countries like India people are more used to the simple 'idea' of food-shortage and those who can afford it have maybe a little bigger stock than just for 3 days. HOWEVER, if you can, I'd suggest you stock up a bit. See it also from the non-conspiracy-theorist-side and have a look at it as an investment! Food inflation in India is galloping and where is the big issue with buying a few sacks extra dal and rice - except that in emergencies both need way to much energy for cooking compared with - let's say - pasta or simple muesli, which the latter you can even chew raw. I know, Indians hate unprocessed food - but still better than no food, isn't it?

So, don't spread fear - but maybe the carefully structured 'advice' to consider basic things and possibilities again after all the years of growth. I am talking to the relatively rich here of course - an pray that the Indian government might be wiser and less corrupt to stock up on national food reserves.

As for the midnight grain-loadings on ships in US-harbors, I guess that they might be a part of a deal with China and other debtors to keep buying $-debt. Or does it already go to the new exile(s) for those with the million €-ticket … oligarchs & stuff?

They ahve simply realized that the commodity markets are manipulated and that all the gaming of the system only sucks money out of Russia and deposits it in the hands of people mainly in London and New York. It is interesting how the article (and you) pass this off as being equivalent to failure of their country.
