I work on elecronics and I can tell you....THIS IS TOTAL B.S. I've taken apart and worked on over 30 brands of monitors and televisions sets and unless it says it has a camera pre-installed ~ it doesn't.
It's threads like this that give people who question things a bad name. If your going to post something so stupid, take apart 5 T'V's and show me proof. Oh thats right, there is none because its BS.
I do security electronics for CVS, Target, Lowes, Barnes & Noble, and many more major retailers and I know electronics.
I got on GLP about a month ago for some alternative news and I've found that there's one legit post for every 100.
I really like this site...but people, use your head, and if you have to, bust out a screw-driver and see for yourself.

you didn't say anything about the motorola cable boxes

Your right about me not mentioning Motorola cable boxes, but I was just replying to the thread topic. That is a interesting find on the cable boxes. I would love to get a hold of one, take out the camera, give it some juice, and see what it sees.

I would like to know, from those who believe this to be true, who or what is on the other end.

Thank you.

Every time you open the hot water tap in your sink you expose yourself to Dihydrogen monoxide vapors! It is absorbed into your body! You are surrounded by Dihydrogen monoxide vapors! Those are the very same vapors emitted by hydrogen fuel cells in cars! What are you going to do?

I was thinking of taking it apart, but it's not mine, I rent it from the cable company.

I can't figure out how to take a picture of the camera through the dark shaded plastic front.

I'd love for someone to do what you say, "see what it sees".

But there is no doubt, there is a camera lens there, pointing into the room. (I covered it with a postit).

A while back I was doing some yard work. There was an insect that looked kind of like a bumble bee hovering around where I was working. I moved on to another area, and there it was again. This happened the next day as well. It would just hover by where I was working. I thought maybe it could be more than one insect, but I never saw more than one at a time.

I would have posted it on GLP, but I didn't want to sound paranoid. chuckle

I had seen a big dragonfly-looking bug drop something and when I picked it up, it was a teeny glass bottle. I started a thread on it a bit ago, and someone posted about insect robot "spies". I can't search my posts, so I can't find the links, but on the links from that poster, it showed them.

If there was any summer for bug-spy paranoia, this was it, at least in my area.

There were many bugs around that neither I, nor my country-type, older neighbor had ever seen before. There were many new, exotic-looking dragon flies and beetles.

Someone could have slipped a spy-bug in there that didn't look like exactly like any other bugs I know, and I would have been none-the-wiser.

OMG the dragonflies. I posted above before I saw this.

We had at least six different types of dragonflies living in a little perennial/grass garden and every now and then a totally diferent type would make a fly-by.

I have no doubt the technology is there, and I believe they would use it. It does seem kind of costly and dangerous (in terms of getting caught) to practice on the general population. Funny thing is, I never have seen another hovering insect like the one I saw for those couple of days. Not one that looked or behaved in that manner.

I can't find my prior posts, I can't do a search. But I had posted something about that dragonfly bug thing I had seen. In that thread (a short one) there was a poster who posted three links with short clips on some dragonfly looking spy bots that hover, land, go through openings. I'll keep looking for it to get the links.

What I had seen was a dragonfly-looking bug that was bigger than any dragonfly I had ever seen, sounded like a humming bird when it flies by, and which had dropped something shiney which was a tiny bottle. I even scanned the bottle and put it in that thread. Anyway, some had theorized it was a dragonfly spy bot that had dropped something. Although, to be honest, it looks just like a tiny teeny glass bottle which had a hazy transluscent violet blue purlish color inside (not solid, a mist of sorts), and smelled of lilacs/lillies.

That is awesome.

The dragonflies that live at my house vary. The weirdest one had a solid black body and completely transparent wings with a large, black, perfect square in the middle of each wing (the only color on the wing). They look evil compared to the others, which are all large, loud and colorful.

If someone were to develop an insectbot, I think the dragonfly would be a good model. Although flies and ants and such can get inside easier.

Maybe the tech is such that if we were to squish the bug we'd be none the wiser?
