Why did the jumpers who jumped from the WTC on 9/11 jump?

medical professionals have lots of theories, but theories are just theories.. i would be more interested in the observations of fire fighters in this discussion, not prissy "medical professionals" who like to deny a medical condition even exists if it is not in their shitty medical books.. they have REALLY embarrassed themselves in this regard over the past decade in the areas of fibromyalgia and Morgellon's disease, to name just two.

I look at them as brave. How brave it was to take fate in your own hands by controlling how you are going to die--by someone else's hand or your own? They had certain death, but they chose the bravest step they ever took by stepping into their chosen destinies.

I don't know, though, how they opened the windows. I used to work there and I still, to this day, don't know how they opened them.

Some were seen walking to the edge of the cleanly punched hole, no fire without burning embers. How did they get to that hole, I thought fuel was all over? (The lady in the khaki pants, search for that video "lady in the khaki pants").

I also don't know why there is no footage of the buildings severely swaying when they were hit. The buildings swayed in the wind (you'd feel seasick, I hated the feeling, never got used to it).

They were all brave, all those who chose to fly to their certain deaths.

I would have jumped because I believe I can fly.

There is footage of a young business man who had taken his shirt off for some reason, and was seen standing on the punched in hole (no fire or smoke or burning on the edges, isn't that strange?). Anyway, he is called the "man with the cellphone" because he had a cellphone in his hand the entire time and then he jumped, shirtless, still holding his cellphone.

He and the lady in the khaki pants (see my earlier post) both were not burned, dirty, or covered in soot. They walked to the edge of the punched out hole, and then chose to jump.

I can't understand why the hole punched in wasn't burning hot with fuel!

You can find both videos, I assume, on youtube. None show the landings that I have looked at.

I always wondered why "Lady in the Gash" jumped, but she did. There was no smoke or fire, and she was extremely brave to stand there on the remains of a floor waving for help. I think they heard the explosions going on, and knew there was no help forthcoming.

I wonder what must have been going through their minds. I hope they were praying and I pray that when they hit bottom, GOD helped them up to heaven in a blink of an eye! Bless their souls and their loved ones. I do not think any of us could say with certainty what we would have done. May we never be faced with that decision. Man's inhumanity to man, Sometimes I just can't believe how cruel mankind can be.

Have you even been burnt or gotten too close to a fire if so then imagine that your entire body is facing that intensity of pain for an unknown period of time? Jumping out of the window as unappealing as it is becomes the last hope for the victim where either they will die immediately or circumstances or good fortune could intervene in their behalf.

As to the jumpers, it looks as though most of them were male--so I think that that may be a factor in who and why they jumped.

I asked my husband as to what he would have done if death from the smoke/fire was inevitable--he said he would have jumped.
I, on the other hand, would have rather died from the smoke inhalation than be spattered on the pavement.

When you realize it is over, do you stay around and take the most painful way out -- or do you leap into the arms of God and hope maybe you'll hit a tree or a canopy on the way down that will break your fall? The more successful odds for survival would be with the leap.

Burning alive? Staying around for that would just be stupid.

It has nothing to do with being a coward....You don't even have time to think with that kind of heat hitting your skin. Stand next to a campfire...when it gets to hot you jump back, or you hand on a stove...you pull back without even thinking.

Since you were not there in that situation I would say calling these people cowards is not a nice thing to do.
