I don't think this is about RELIGION in the sense that only one religion can be singled out as encouraging violence against women. Many do and many have, including christianity. IT's about WOMEN and their RIGHTS AS HUMAN BEINGS and MEN WHO do not want women to be anything but slaves. The rights of human beings is not what religion advocates. That is exactly why their hold on political power is so dangerous to human beings who dont measure up... This may be of interest. theologians claim they have a monopoly on understanding Islam." All well and good that muslim women have found favorable insights in the Koran. But it is theologians who run theocracies,,,
