Was reading your synopsis of the Mickey Ears.

The thought came to me.

Mickey ears/ California
Boat oars/ land sinking
Peddles / getting away quickly
Opposite/ separation

California breaks off by earthquake and slides into the ocean. Separates form the continent? Survivors trying to escape?

Today at church I saw just hearts that changed to spades on screen. Nothing else...
