Hi ST in BG,
Do you have any comfort, insight, advice, or mitigation techniques to help with the human and ecological catastrophe in New Orleans?
It has been a difficult summer for the Gulf of Mexico already -- an enormous fish kill, red algae bloom sulfurous smells, and the very strange and disturbing fish exodus -- "fish parade" exiting the gulf. I worry that the disaster in New Orleans will poison the gulf for a long time, and this will have an environmental impact felt far and wide. Also, all of the strange activity earlier this month hints to possible geothermal/volcanic activity under the waters of the gulf. Do you have any info on this?
While I am asking science questions, there is an unusual coronal display from the sun, seen on the LASCO cam:

Do you know what this is? It looks like a giant jellyfish or bloom of a translucent cosmic flower to me...
Thanks
What kind of mushrooms do you prefer? button? shitake? portabella? other?
just curious -- I love mushrooms and prefer them raw, too -- is this significant?
be well!
