Greetings ST and think you for corresponding with me earlier.I have recently found out that I am part melungeon(a mixed race)Info about the melungeon race is scarce,so ST could you please explain the melungeons for me-and I did spell Melungeon wrong.Thank you in advance.Much love.

From my research, I think they were Portuguese sailors who were marooned in America from shipwreck. They moved inland to the mountains and intermarried with native tribes. They often called themselves Port-o-gee and is felt it is a form of the name "Portuguese". That may be where the "gee" comes from in Melungeon. The first part may be part of the tribal name. Wispy
