Manic Miner User ID: 1092216 United Kingdom 09/07/2010 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Beware. There is an update, but the user terms state that if you agree to the terms, that you're agreeing to download the yahoo tool bar. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1051040I canceled the download and then deleted the update. I usually untick the toolbar option and download. Are you saying that is now not the case? |

Quoting: Manic MinerI canceled the download and then deleted the update. I usually untick the toolbar option and download. Are you saying that is now not the case? Yes, that's right. There is not an option on the new update for a custom install. In order to continue the update, you must agree to the user terms, which state -- in the text -- that doing so will install the toolbar. |

Vision Thing User ID: 1091629 United States 09/07/2010 05:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Love the CCleaner & always have been able to turn down the toolbar option. It also wants to install Google Chrome browser, didn't take that either. Go get their "Defraggler" defrag tool too - it seems to do a much better job than the built in Windows one. I ran that CCleaner on one of the computers at work and it took out 3400 MB of gunk - can you believe it? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 610516The latest version is 2.35.1223...Just DL'ed and installed on my netbook, and it is has the same 'opt-out' box to uncheck the Yahoo Toolbar that it has always had... After reading your post, I went back to see if this was true. You CAN untick the box for the toolbar. You're right and I was wrong. You don't have to be so mean about it. |

The use of the file: pagefile.sys 2. The reason the file is freakin' 1.5 GB yes, that's GB on my system and 3. How to clear it out and prevent it from getting that large again? TIA! That's your swap file. |

makemake User ID: 1092473 Finland 09/07/2010 05:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, CCleaner and Defraggler are both good programs. If you don't want to install extra toolbars or any other bundled software, then pay attention while installing and untick those options. And if you ditch Windows and move on to Linux, then you don't have to worry about bundled software ever again. |

Paging file file can be dynamic or set to a static size (this includes a nice performance boost). As for how big, it depends on how much ram you have. For example, with 1 gig ram, set it to 3000mb min and max. If you have 4 gigs of ram, set it 4096mb min and max. The rest depends..... The only time you should "remove " the paging file is if you have between 4-8 gigs of ram...yeah...seriously... Hope this helps. |
