The news deserves Quoting: DrPostmana pin because they still aren't sure if it's arson. BTW, Rich Sanchez keeps agreeing with local reporters that no one has ever seen this before? Oh really? What about Hell Night? Isn't Detroit famous for burning the night before Halloween? Devils Night... Fire it UP. This is from the Crow. |

Hey User ID: 1092671 United States 09/07/2010 09:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's really windy here, lots of down power lines. The fires are spreading like crazy. There are so many abandoned homes amidst homes with occupants. The fire hydrants rarely work and after this hot summer most have been opened for local fun time. Not to mention the fact that there is low water pressure at the hydrants. Then let's bring in the other fact that the City is broke and have minimal staff servicing the police and fire departments. Detroit Ciity, come visit some time! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 951548 United States 09/07/2010 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What about Robocop? We knew this city was doomed in the 80's Quoting: DrPostmanwere is that ED-209 to shoot all the troublemakers? He's doing documentaries for Discovery and THL, which is very apropos for him since Peter Weller is just finishing his PhD in Italian Renaissance art history at UCLA. He has a Masters in Roman and Renaissance Art from Syracuse University and often teaches history classes there. He's much better suited for educational programs, which I bet you would agree with if you caught any of his current series, "Engineering An Empire", on The History Channel. If you haven't caught it it's well worth it. LMAO... then I guess Detroit is truly f-d. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1084387 Canada 09/07/2010 09:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.chron.com] Quoting: maluDETROIT — At least two dozen homes have been burning in Detroit, fanned by winds that have gusted up to 50 mph and stretching the city's shrunken fire department thin. we have had wind like that for about five days, i am on the other side of michigan. devils night is coming up next month, that is usually good for 3-500 fires in one night if there is anything left i am surprised no one has up armored a greyhound bus to run tours in what is left of a once great city I am going to Troy MI for a wedding the second weekend of October (Long Thanksgiving weekend here in Canaduh). I would love to have an armored truck/bus tour of Detroit! :) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1083681 United States 09/07/2010 09:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How can everyone be so callous and unfeeling? People live there. Human beings, remember? No matter who they are or what they do, they are still people. When things get worse, this will be more the norm in many large cities. So just have some compassion, we are all getting there, some faster than others. After all, this is the goal of the higher ups to delete the middle class and make the lower class worse than before, make everyone 'properly humble'. This will not happen without violence from both people and mother nature herself. |

Hey User ID: 1092671 United States 09/07/2010 10:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People with nothing to begin with are losing what little they have, man this is sad. I feel bad for the good people trying to get by these days here. Detroit has a bad rap, everyone laughs, it really isn't funny. Times are tough here, really tough, good people all over Michigan are taking a hard hit to the stomach. The cities, the burbs, we are all feeling it more than most around the US of A, if you are the type, please say a little prayer for the good people caught up in the nightmare tonight. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 613731 United States 09/07/2010 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Detroit is so sad. This is what the rest of US cities will look like if the economy goes under more than it already is...very sad for America. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1091764It was once known as the Paris of the West.. And you can see in those bombed out shells how beautiful those buildings once were. A real shame, and there's no getting it back. |
