Tsunami Warning Center to be created in Greece
If you translate the comments under the article, all people say the same thing. "What do we need a tsunami center here for and especially under our recent ecomomic status?"

Athens: An act is discussed at the Greek Parliament today for the creation of a National Warning Center for tsunami.

The National Center for Tsunami Warning, as it will be called, will operate at the National Observatory of Athens and assumes the role of a "Regional Center for Tsunami Warning" throughout the Southeastern Mediterranean.

As the report says, the establishment and operation of the Centre is necessary to protect both Greece and the wider region, which is not covered by any of the Global Warning Centers.

Is it just to recieve some more european funds or its been seen as a necessary action? And if its the second, why now?

I would really love it for us to become more tech and scientific, but I still find it a bit strange.
